Danger for children

pliance by a person responsible for their safety.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• Do not leave the packing components near children because they are potentially

dangerous.

• In the event that this appliance is to be disposed of, it is recommended that the

power chord be cut. It is also recommended that all potentially dangerous com-

ponents are rendered harmless to prevent children from hurting themselves when

playing with the apparatus.

Danger due to electricity

• Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, make sure that the voltage

indicated on the plate corresponds to the local mains voltage.

• Fill the tank with water before turning on the appliance. The power cable plug must

• Turn on the appliance only after it has been placed in its working position.

of damage or if it is leaking. To prevent any accident, all repairs, including the

replacement of the power cord, must be carried out by an Authorised Service

• Do not use the appliance if the power cord appears to be damaged, with parts

showing burns, etc.; an Authorised Ariete Service Centre must repair and replace

the power cable, under penalty of the warranty being forfeited.

Warning of burns

• Never try to iron garments being worn.

• Do not touch the metal parts of the iron when in operation and for several minutes

after it is turned off since it could cause burns.

• Do not aim the jet of steam towards parts of the body or pets.

Warning – material damage

• Remove any labels or protections from the iron soleplate before using the appli-



• Always unwind the cable before use.

• The use of extension leads, which have not been authorised by the appliance

manufacturer, may cause damage and accidents.

• Do not use sparkling water (with added carbon dioxide).

• Do not place the iron on top of the power cord and pay attention that it does not

come into contact with the hot soleplate of the iron.

• Do not unplug the appliance by pulling on the cord.

• After having unplugged the appliance and after it has completely cooled down, it

can be cleaned but only with a non-abrasive cloth dampened with water. Never

use solvents. They damage the plastic parts.

• Do not put vinegar, decalcifying agents or other fragrant substances inside the

tank. Otherwise, the warranty may be revoked.

• Do not wrap the power cord around the soleplate, especially when the iron is hot.

• Never put the soleplate in contact with metal surfaces.

• Put the temperature adjustment knob (5) on MIN before storing the appliance.

Always unplug the power cord and wait for the iron to cool down.

• Do not expose the appliance to atmospheric agents (rain, sun …).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Filling the tank

Make sure the iron is unplugged from the supply mains before lling the tank

with water.

Set the steam selector (4) on minimum “ ” (Fig. 2).

Open the door (12) by pulling it upwards. Hold the iron in a horizontal position



measure provided. Close the cover (12) again. If your tap water is very hard, use

natural mineral water; this helps the iron to last longer.

NEVER ll the tank beyond the maximum level.

Do not put vinegar, chemical additives, decalcifying agents or fragrant substances

inside the tank. Otherwise, the warranty may be revoked.

If it proves necessary to add water while ironing, always turn off the iron and unplug



Auto-Lift™ lifting system

Place the iron on a stable surface (Fig. 5). Plug in the iron. Set the Auto-Lift™ lifting

selector (11) Fig. 7 on position ( ).

The iron will lower by simply gripping the iron by its handle (10) (Fig. 6).

Every time you release the handle, the spacers will come out to lift the appliance

and protect your fabrics.

Auto-Lift™ system operation

To turn off the Auto-Lift™ function, set the selector (11) on the back of the appliance

to off ( ) Fig. 7. Now the iron will operate as a standard appliance. If the iron

remains still in the horizontal position for more than 30 seconds, the spacers (9) will

come out. This prevents the soleplate from burning the fabrics.

Touch the handle and the iron will lower itself again. To restore the Auto-Lift™

function, put the selector (11) in the on position ( ).

Operation light actions

Blinking red The automatic off system has intervened.

Turning on the appliance

Plug it into the socket. The operation light (1) turns on red and steady.

Set the desired temperature by turning the temperature adjustment handle (5).

The light (1) turns green and starts to blink to indicate that the iron soleplate has

started to heat up. When the iron reaches the desired temperature, the light (1) will

remain green and steady (the operation light turns on and off while you are ironing,

meaning that the iron is maintaining the right temperature).

Follow the instructions on the care label of the garment to be ironed so that the

dots shown on the label correspond to those shown on the temperature adjustment

knob.

TIPS

Divide the garments to be ironed based on the type of fabric: wool with wool, cotton

with cotton, etc.

Since the iron soleplate heats up much faster than it cools down, it is best to start

ironing all the fabrics requiring lower temperatures to then iron those fabrics gradu-

ally requiring higher temperatures.

   

If you do not know the composition of the fabric of the garment to be ironed,

look for a piece of fabric not visible. Test by ironing this point and determine the

best temperature (always start from a relatively low temperature and increase

it gradually until you reach the right one). Pure (100%) wool fabrics can also

be ironed with the iron adjusted on one of the steam positions. Iron pure wool,

silk and synthetic fabrics on the reverse side to prevent the ironed fabric from

becoming shiny. For other types of fabric – and especially velvet – iron in one

direction only (with a cloth) applying very light pressure in order to prevent

them from becoming shiny. The iron must be kept in constant motion on the

fabric being ironed.

Note: This symbol on the label means that the item cannot be ironed!

(for example, chlorobre, elastodiene).

STEAM IRONING

Steam ironing is possible only at high temperature.

Check that there is enough water inside the tank.

Place the iron on a stable surface (Fig. 5). Plug it into the socket. Set the temperature

by turning the knob (5) to •••.

When the light (1) turns on and is steady, move the amount of steam selector (4)

to the desired position (Fig. 10). You get maximum steam dispensing by moving

the selector to the “ ” position. Steam is not dispensed when moved to the

“ ” symbol.

If there is water in the tank and the temperature is set on

•••, all you have to do is

press the steam button (2) Fig. 11.

When you use the shot of steam and the temperature is too low, water may leak

from the holes on the iron soleplate.

Spray button

Make sure the steam adjustment selector is set on “ ” and that there is water in

the tank. Press the spray button (3) Fig. 13.

It may be necessary to press the spray button repeatedly to activate this function.

DRY IRONING

Plug it into the socket. Set the steam selector (4) on “ ”.

Set the temperature adjustment knob (5) according to the type of fabric to be ironed.

Wait a few minutes for the soleplate to reach the set temperature.

VERTICAL IRONING

You can use the jet of steam for ironing hanging fabrics. This special ironing tech-

nique is handy for removing creases from drapes, fabrics, etc. Set the ironing tem-

perature past the symbol (•••) using the adjustment knob (5). Set the steam selec-

tor (4) on maxium amount

. Put the iron in a vertical position. When the light

(1) turns on steady, you can dispense steam (Fig. 15). Wait at least three seconds

before pressing the steam button again.

Caution

Do not iron fabrics held by other people.

AUTOMATIC SAFETY SWITCHING OFF

If the iron is not used when it is plugged in, the operation light (1) will turn red and will

start to blink. The iron will turn off.

The automatic safety switching off mechanism intervenes both when the selector

(11) has been set on standard mode ( ) and when it is in Auto-Lift™ ( )

mode Fig. 7:

(1) If the Auto-Lift™ system is disabled and the iron is in a horizontal position without being used, the

spacers become enabled after 30 seconds go by to prevent the fabric or ironing surface from burning. The

iron will turn off automatically after another 30 seconds.

The iron will switch back on by simply moving it, and it will start to heat up to reach

the temperature set before it switched off.

AFTER IRONING

Turn off the iron by turning the temperature adjustment knob (5) to “MIN” and set the

steam adjustment selector on “ ”.

Leave the iron sitting on the spacers and unplug it.

Caution

Do not unplug the power cord while holding the iron, otherwise the spacers

will not come out.

Set the iron on the spacers and let it cool down.

Always empty the tank after use.

Turn the iron upside-down with the tip pointing downward (Fig. 17) and let the water

drain from the hole (6). Open the tank door (12) to empty it quicker.

Caution

Let the iron cool down before emptying the tank: danger of burns.

Wrap the power cord around the iron without pulling it too tight (Fig. 18). Store the

iron in a vertical position.

CLEANING THE APPLIANCE

Warning!

Make sure the iron is unplugged from the supply mains and has completely

cooled down before cleaning it.

Caution

Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

Caution

Check the state of the power cable of your iron on a regular basis before us-

ing it, and if it is damaged, take it to the service centre closest to you to have

it replaced only by specialised personnel.

Cleaning the soleplate

Any deposits and other residue material on the soleplate can be removed using a cloth

soaked in a water and vinegar solution. Always dry the soleplate with a dry cloth.

Warning!

Do not use abrasives for cleaning the soleplate. Try and keep the soleplate

smooth: avoid contact with metal objects.

Cleaning the steam lines

Warning!

If you have just stopped ironing, turn off the appliance, unplug it and wait at

least 2 hours so the appliance completely cools down.

To remove lime deposits from the soleplate lines, follow these instructions:

- Fill the tank;

- Turn the iron on and put the knob (5) on “linen”;

- When the temperature is reached, unplug the appliance and take the iron over a

sink.

- Repeatedly press the steam button (2) until water comes out of the soleplate

holes.

This will cause a strong shot of steam.

Dry the soleplate with a soft cloth and store the iron safely out of the reach of chil-

dren.

Warning!

Do not put vinegar, decalcifying agents or other fragrant substances inside

the tank. Otherwise, the warranty may be revoked.

Amount of steam selector maintenance

Dispense steam and repeatedly move the steam selector forward and back, from

maximum to minimum, periodically.

SUGGERIMENTI

Suddividere i capi da stirare in base al tipo di tessuto: lana con lana, cotone con

cotone, ecc...

Poiché il riscaldamento della piastra del ferro avviene molto più rapidamente del suo

Se non siete a conoscenza della composizione del tessuto del capo da stira-

re, cercare un punto del tessuto che non sia visibile. Fare una prova stirando

questo punto e stabilire la temperatura più adatta (iniziare sempre da una tem-

Per attivare questa funzione potrebbe essere necessario premere ripetutamente il

pulsante spray.

STIRATURA A SECCO

Inserire la spina nella presa elettrica. Impostare il selettore vapore (4) su “ ”.

Impostare la manopola di regolazione della temperatura (5) a seconda del tipo di

STIRARE IN VERTICALE

Potete usare il getto di vapore per stirare i tessuti in verticale. Questa speciale pro-

cedura di stiratura serve per rimuovere le pieghe dalle tende, dai tessuti etc… Impo-

stare la temperatura di stiratura tramite la manopola di regolazione (5) oltre il simbolo

(••• ). Impostare il selettore vapore (4) sulla quantità massima “ ”. Posizionare il



Non stirare tessuti che vengono sorretti da altre persone.

Il ferro si riaccenderà semplicemente muovendolo e inizierà a scaldarsi raggiungen-

do la temperatura impostata prima dello spegnimento.

DOPO AVER STIRATO

Spegnere il ferro ruotando la manopola di regolazione della temperatura (5) su “MIN”

e impostare il selettore di regolazione vapore su “ ”.

Lasciare il ferro appoggiato sui distanziali e staccare la spina dalla presa di cor-

rente.

Attenzione

Non scollegare il cavo di alimentazione dalla presa di corrente tenendo il

ferro in mano, altrimenti i distanziali non usciranno.

Appoggiare il ferro sui distanziali e lasciarlo raffreddare.

Svuotare sempre il serbatoio dopo l’uso.

Capovolgere il ferro da stiro con la punta verso il basso (Fig. 17) e lasciare fuo-



velocemente.

Attenzione

Prima di svuotare il serbatoio lasciare raffreddare il ferro da stiro: pericolo

di ustioni.

Avvolgere il cavo di alimentazione intorno al ferro, senza stringerlo eccessivamente

(Fig. 18). Riporre il ferro in posizione verticale.

PULIZIA DELL’APPARECCHIO

Attenzione!

Prima di pulire il ferro, accertarsi che sia staccato dalla rete di alimentazione

elettrica e che sia completamente raffreddato.

Attenzione

Controllare le condizioni del cavo di alimentazione del vostro ferro regolar-

mente prima di utilizzarlo e nel caso di danneggiamento portarlo al più vicino

centro di assistenza per farlo sostituire solo dal personale specializzato.

Pulizia della piastra

Gli eventuali depositi e altro materiale residuo presenti sulla piastra possono essere

tolti utilizzando un panno imbevuto di soluzione di acqua e aceto. Asciugare sempre

la piastra con un panno asciutto.

Attenzione!

Non fare uso di abrasivi per pulire la piastra. Fare in modo che la piastra

rimanga liscia: evitare il contatto con oggetti metallici.

Pulizia dei condotti del vapore
