Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” and “IMPORTANT NOTES” (supplied on a separate sheet).
After reading, keep the document(s) where it will be available for immediate reference.
Outputting the reverberation (ambience) only
to the OUTPUT jack
If you want to process the reverberation on your mixer, you can
output the reverberant sound only from the OUTPUT jack; the
reverberant sound is not output from the LINE OUT jack.
1. While holding down the pedal, turn on the power and
continue holding down the pedal.
The CHECK indicator is lit.
2. Turn the AMBIENCE knob to specify the setting.
The reverberant sound
is output from both the
OUTPUT jack and the
LINE OUT jack (the check
indicator blinks rapidly)
The reverberant sound

OUTPUT jack (the check
indicator blinks)
3. Release the pedal to complete the setting.
Precautions When Connecting
* To prevent malfunction and equipment failure, always turn
down the volume, and turn o all the units before making any
connections.
* the connections have been completed, turn on power Once
to your various devices in the order specied. By turning on
devices in the wrong order, you risk causing malfunction and/
or damage to speakers and other devices.
When powering up: Turn on the power to your amp last.
When powering down: Turn o the power to your amp rst.
* Immediately after the unit is powered-on, the eect is on.
Use of Battery
* A battery was installed in the unit before it left the factory. The
life of this battery may be limited, however, since its primary
purpose was to enable testing.
* If you handle batteries improperly, you risk explosion and uid
leakage. Make sure that you carefully observe all of the items
related to batteries that are listed in “USING THE UNIT SAFELY”
and “IMPORTANT NOTES” (supplied on a separate sheet).
* When operating on battery power only, the units indicator will
become dim when battery power gets too low. Replace the
battery as soon as possible.
* Before turning the unit on/o, always be sure to turn the
volume down. Even with the volume turned down, you might
hear some sound when switching the unit on/o. However,
this is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.
* If operating this unit on batteries, please use alkaline batteries.
Changing the Battery
1. Hold down the pedal and loosen the thumbscrew, then
open the pedal upward.

Main Features
Panel Descriptions
INPUT jack
This jack accepts signals coming from an
acoustic-electric guitar.
* The INPUT jack doubles as the power switch. Power
to the unit is turned on when you plug into the
INPUT jack; the power is turned o when the cable
is unplugged. To prevent unnecessary battery
consumption, be sure to disconnect the plug from
the INPUT jack when not using the eects unit.
LINE OUT jack
Mixer
OUTPUT jack
Connect this output jack to an amp
that’s designed for acoustic-electric
guitars.
Thumbscrew
When this screw is loosened, the
pedal will open, allowing you to
change the battery.
* For instructions on changing
the battery, refer to
“Changing the Battery.
This is a balanced (TRS) type output jack.
Connect it to your mixer or recorder.
* This cannot be used as a headphone jack.
* Pin assignment of the LINE OUT jack
Recorder
AC Adaptor
(PSA series: optional)
DC IN jack
Accepts connection of an AC Adaptor (PSA series; optional). By using an AC Adaptor, you can play
without being concerned about how much battery power you have left.
* Use only the specied AC adaptor (PSA series; sold separately), and connect it to an AC outlet
of the correct voltage. Do not use any other AC adaptor, since this may cause malfunction.
* If the AC adaptor is connected while a battery is installed, the power
supply is drawn from the AC adaptor.
* We recommend that you keep batteries installed in the unit even
though you’ll be powering it with the AC adaptor. That way, you’ll be
able to continue a performance even if the cord of the AC adaptor gets
accidentally disconnected from the unit.
CHECK indicator
This indicator shows whether the eect is on or o, and also doubles as the battery check
indicator. The indicator lights when the eect is on.
This blinks when the output is muted.
* If you’re powering the unit with a battery and the CHECK indicator goes dim— or
doesn’t light at all—when you try to turn the eect on, the battery is near depletion
and should be replaced. For instructions on changing the battery, refer to “Changing
the Battery.
* The CHECK indicator shows whether the eect is being applied or not. It does not
indicate whether the power to the device is on or not.

Pedal switch
This switch turns the eect on/o.
If you hold down the pedal switch for two seconds or longer, the CHECK
indicator blinks and the output sound is muted. Press once again to cancel
muting. This is convenient when tuning your instrument.
Adjusts the depth of reverberation (ambience).
The AD-2 is a preamp designed specically for acoustic-electric guitars.
It is equipped with an ACOUSTIC RESONANCE knob that adds the natural resonance of an acoustic guitar that’s often lost by the pickup of an acoustic-electric guitar,
an AMBIENCE knob that adds rich reverberation, and a NOTCH knob that suppresses acoustic feedback.
The AD-2 provides a LINE OUT jack (1/4-inch TRS phone type) that can output with optimal audio quality to a mixer or recorder. This can also be used as a balanced-output direct box.
Adjusts the amount of resonance, adding the natural resonance that is
characteristic of an acoustic guitar.
Suppresses acoustic feedback by cutting a specic frequency region.
Normally you should leave this in the OFF” position. If acoustic feedback
occurs, turn the knob to nd the frequency at which feedback is reduced.
