Safety
General safety instructions for cordless powertools
Warning: Readall theinstructions. Failure to comply with thefollowing
instructions can lead to electric shock, fires and/or serious injury. Theterm
“power tool” in thewarning text below refers to your handheld mains
operated or battery operatedtool.
1) Theworkarea
a) Cluttered or dark areas invite Keep thework area clean and welllit.
accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as
in thepresence of flammable liquids, gases ordust. Powertools
create sparks which may ignite dust orfumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating apowertool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match theoutlet. Nevermodify theplug
in anyway. Neveruse anadaptor plug together with earthed
powertools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce
therisk of electric shocks.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded objects, such as
pipes, radiators, ovens or refrigerators. Thereis anincreased risk of
electric shock if your body is earthed.
c) Do not expose thepower tool to rain or other wet conditions.
Waterentering apower tool will increase therisk of electricshock.
d) Do not abuse themainslead. Neveruse thelead for carrying,
pulling or unplugging thepowertool. Keepthelead away from
heat, oil, sharp edges and movingparts. Damaged or tangled leads
increase therisk of electricshock.
e) When operating power tools outdoors, use anextension lead that
is suitable for outdooruse. Theuse of anextension lead designed for
outdoor use decreases therisk of electric shocks.
f) If operating apower tool in adamp location, use aresidual current
device (RCD) protected supply. Useof anRCD reduces therisk of
electricshock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating apowertool. Donot use power tools if you are tired or
under theinfluence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Onemoment of
inattention while using apower tool may result in serious injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Usingprotective clothing such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes,
helmets and ear defenders when needed decreases therisk of injury.
c) Avoid unintentional starting. Makesure that thepower switch is
set to OFF before connecting to power source and/or batterypack.
Carrying power tools with your finger on theswitch/trigger or energising
power tools that have theswitch set to ON, invites accidents.
d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching thepower toolon.
Aservice tool left on arotating part of thepower tool may result in
personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keepproper footing and balance at alltimes.
Thiswill allow you to have more control in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Donot wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery.
Keephair, clothes and gloves away from movingparts.
Looseclothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in movingparts.
g) If equipment for dust extraction and collection is available, make
sure that it is connected and used properly. Useof dust collection
equipment can reduce dust related hazards.
4) Power tool use andcare
a) Do not force thepowertool. Usethecorrect power tool for your
application. Thecorrect power tool will do thejob better and safer if
used at therate for which it was designed.
b) Never use thepower tool if thepower switch does not switch
thetool on and off properly. Anypower tool that cannot be controlled
by thepower switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Unplug thelead from thewall socket, before making any
adjustments, changing accessories or storing thepowertool.
Theseprecautions reduce therisk of thepower tool starting
unexpectedly.
d) Store idle power tools out of thereach of children and do not allow
people who are unfamiliar with thepower tool or these instructions
to operate thetool. Powertools are dangerous in thehands of
untrainedusers.
e) Maintaining powertools. Checkfor any incorrect settings, parts
that catch, broken parts or anything else which may cause
thepower tool to malfunction. Ifany damage is noticed, have
thepower tool repaired beforeusing. Manyaccidents are caused by
poorly maintained powertools.
f) Properly maintained cutting tools with Keep tools sharp andclean.
sharp blades are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use thepower tool, accessories and similar in accordance with
these instructions and in anappropriate way suitable for thetype
of power tool used, taking into account theworking conditions and
thework to be performed. Useof thepower tool for apurpose other
than that for which it is intended could result in adangerous situation.
5) Use and maintenance of cordless powertools
a) Make sure that thepower switch is set to OFF before attaching
thebattery. Attaching abattery to apower tool when thepower switch
set to ON is inviting anaccident.
b) Only charge thebattery using acharger approved by
themanufacturer. Acharger suitable for one type of battery can pose
afire hazard if used for another type of battery.
c) Use power tools only with specifically designated batterypacks.
Theuse of other types of batteries might cause damage orfire.
d) When not in use, thebattery should be stored away from other
metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or
any small objects that could bridge thegap between thebattery
terminals. Shorting thebattery terminals together may cause burns or
afire.
e) Mistreating thebattery may cause it to leakacid. Contact with
this acid should be avoided. Ifcontact accidentally occurs, flush
withwater. Iftheacid contacts eyes, additionally seek medicalhelp.
Battery acid can cause irritation andburns.
6) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by aqualified repair person using
only identical replacementparts.
Additional safety instructions for chargers and batteries
• Only use thesupplied charger to charge thescrewdriverwith.
• Never use thecharger for charging anything other than thescrewdriver
it was suppliedwith.
• Do not expose thescrewdriver to direct sunlight, flames or other heat
source which might cause thescrewdriver to explode.
• Do not expose thescrewdriver or charger towater.
• Do not dismantle thescrewdriver as this may lead to short-circuiting
and therisk of explosion.
Responsible disposal
This symbol indicates that this product should not be disposed of
with general household waste. This applies throughout theentire
EU. In order to prevent any harm to theenvironment or health
hazards caused by incorrect waste disposal, theproduct must be
handed in for recycling so that thematerial can be disposed of in
aresponsible manner. When recycling your product, take it to your
local collection facility or contact theplace of purchase. They will
ensure that theproduct is disposed of in anenvironmentally sound manner.
In accordance with Directive 2012/19 /EU and 2006/66/EC,
all electrical waste, electronic equipment and batteries must
be collected and disposed of properly to reduce negative
environmental effects.
Built-in batteries must only be removed by service technicians that
have the requisite knowledge. An electric power tool can be irreparably
damaged if it is opened the wrong way.
To remove the battery:
• Activate the tool until the battery is completely discharged.
• Open the tool so that the battery becomes accessible.
• The battery terminals must be disconnected separately, one after the other.
The battery terminals must be isolated. This is to stop the residual current
in the battery from being released through a short circuit.
