Misuse of batteries could cause them to rupture or leak leading to

Check to be sure the box includes all the supplied accessories shown
below. Please contact the store where you purchased this unit if
any of these accessories are missing or have been damaged during
transportation.

* Apply the included felt pads to the bottoms of the feet to avoid
scratching the surface where the unit is placed.

Precautions for use
oPlace the unit in a stable location near the audio system that you
will use with it.
oDo not install this unit in a location that could become hot. This
includes places that are exposed to direct sunlight or near a radia-
tor, heater, stove or other heating equipment. Moreover, do not
place it on top of another amplifier or equipment that generates
heat.
oAvoid locations that are subject to vibrations or exposed to exces-
sive dust, cold or moisture.
oIn order to enable good heat dissipation, leave at least 20 cm (8")
between this unit and walls and other equipment when installing
it. If you put it in a rack, take precautions to prevent overheating
by leaving at least 20 cm (8 ) open above the top of the unit and "
at least 10 cm (4 ) open behind it. Failure to provide these gaps "
could cause heat to build up inside and result in fire.
oDo not install the unit face up or on its side.
oDo not place anything, not even CDs, CD-Rs, LP records or cassette
tapes, on top of the unit. Do not put cloth on top of the unit or
place the unit on top of bedding or thick carpet.
oDo not move the unit during use.
oBe careful to avoid injury when moving the unit due to its weight.
Have someone help you move it if necessary.
oThe voltage supplied to the unit should match the voltage printed
on the rear panel. If you are in any doubt regarding this matter,
consult an electrician.
oDo not open the body of the unit as this might result in damage
to the circuitry or cause electric shock. If a foreign object should
get into the unit, contact your dealer.
oWhen removing the power plug from the wall outlet, always pull
directly on the plug; never yank on the cord.
Maintenance
Use a soft dry cloth to wipe the surface of the unit clean.
For stubborn smudges, use a damp cloth that has been thoroughly
wrung out to remove excess moisture.
V For safety, disconnect the power plug from the out-
let before cleaning.
oNever spray liquid directly on this unit.
oDo not use chemically-treated wipes, thinner or similar substances
because they could damage the surface of the unit.
oAvoid allowing rubber or plastic materials to touch the unit for
long periods of time because they could damage the cabinet.

A Analog input (INPUTS) connectors
Connect the analog output connectors of Super Audio CD play-
ers, DVD players, cassette decks, tuners and other equipment to
these connectors.
Connect the R connector of a pair on this unit to the right (R)
connector of an output device and the L connector of the same
pair on this unit to the left (L) connector of the output device.
Use commercially-available cables for connections.
For XLR connectors: Use a balanced XLR audio cable.
Insert a balanced XLR plug until the connector lever locks.
Press this lever when disconnecting.
For RCA connectors: Use an RCA audio cable.
Connect the white pin plugs to the white (L) connectors and
connect the red pin plugs to the red (R) connectors.
oThe XLR input connectors can be switched to 3 HOT (+)
(page 22).
Connecting record players
This unit has a built-in phono equalizer. When connecting a
record player, use the PHONO connectors.
oAlways connect the record player’s ground to the SIGNAL
GND grounding connector on this unit.
oUse the PHONO MM/MC button to set the cartridge type
being used (page 19).
B SIGNAL GND grounding connector
Using a commercially-available sheathed wire to connect this
to the grounding terminal of a Super Audio CD player, power
amplifier or other device might improve the audio quality.
oThis is not an electrical safety ground.
C Preamp input (EXT. PRE IN) connectors
Connect an external preamp here to use this unit as a power
amp (page 12).
D Analog output (PRE OUT/REC OUT) connectors
These output 2 channels of analog audio.
Connect these to the analog input connectors on another device.
When connecting these to a CD recorder or other audio input
device, set the PRE OUT output (page 23) according to the use.
To use this unit as a preamp, see “Connections for use as a pre-
amp” on page 12.
Connect the R connector of a pair on this unit to the right (R)
connector of an input device and the L connector of the same
pair on this unit to the left (L) connector of the input device.
Use commercially-available cables for connections.
For XLR connectors: Use a balanced XLR audio cable.
Insert a balanced XLR plug into the connector until it locks.
For RCA connectors: Use an RCA audio cable.
Connect the white pin plugs to the white (L) connectors and
connect the red pin plugs to the red (R) connectors.
E Optional board slot
This slot is for installing optional boards that are sold separately.
F AC power inlet (~IN)
Connect the included power cord to this socket. After complet-
ing all other connections, plug the power plug into a power
outlet.
VUse only a genuine Esoteric power cord. Use of
other power cords could result in fire or electric
shock.

Connecting speakers
Notes about speaker cables
oUse commercially-available speaker cables to connect the speakers.
oUse the shortest speaker cables possible. The longer the cable, the
greater the resistance value and the more that damping perfor-
mance is reduced. Moreover, length also increases impedance and
capacitance, degrading the sound quality of high frequencies.
oUse left and right speaker cables that have the same length.
How to connect speaker cables
Use commercially-available speaker cables to connect the + terminal
of the unit to the + terminal of the speaker and the − terminal of the
unit to the − terminal of the speaker.
oUse speakers with at least 4Ω impedance.
oIf you plan to output sound from two sets of speakers at the same
time, use speakers with at least 8Ω impedance.
oIf the exposed tip of the core wire of a speaker cable contacts
another cord or terminal, a short could occur.
Never allow a speaker cable to short.
oDo not connect more than one amplifier to a speaker.
oDo not bundle speaker cables with power cords. Doing so could
cause noise.
VThe power plug should always be disconnected
when connecting speaker cables.

When using bare wires
Loosen the cap and insert the core wire into the hole in the terminal.
Then, tighten the cap.
When using spade lugs
Loosen the cap and insert the lug between the cap and base of the
terminal. Then, tighten the cap.
oWhen using a spade lug to connect, use one with an inside diam-
eter of at least 8 mm (3/8 )."
When using banana plugs
With the cap tightened, insert the plug into the opening in the end
of the terminal.
oCarefully read the instructions for the banana plugs that you are
using.
Notice about the European model
In accordance with European safety regulations, connecting
banana plugs to speaker terminals is not allowed on European
models. The holes into which banana plugs could be inserted
have been covered with black caps. Connect speakers using bare
wires or spade lugs. If a black cap should become separated from
its terminal, return it to its original position.
This unit has a DC protection circuit, an overcurrent protection circuit
and an overheating protection circuit built-in.
When a protection circuit is operating, the ring around the POWER
button blinks and one of the following error messages blinks on the
display.
DCout ERR!
The DC protection circuit is active.
Turn the unit off once and wait several minutes before turning it
on again.
OverCURNT!
The overcurrent protection circuit is active.
A short might have occurred with the +/− speaker cables. In this
case, turn the unit off and check the speaker cable connections.
Over TEMP!
The overheating protection circuit is active.
The internal temperature has become high. Turn the unit off and
wait a while for the temperature to decrease. You can also change
the installation conditions to improve ventilation.
oIf the overheating protection circuit continues to operate for
30 seconds, the unit will automatically turn itself off. After this,
the POWER button will be disabled for as long as the internal
temperature remains high.
If the indicator continues to blink even after likely causes have been
eliminated, contact the store where you purchased the unit.

Connections
Use commercially-available RCA cables to connect the analog output
(PRE OUT/REC OUT) connectors on this unit to the analog input con-
nectors on the power amp.
Settings
Using Settings Menu 3, set the operation mode to PREAMP (page
25).
VPrecautions when making connections
After completing all other connections, plug the power plug into a
power outlet.
Read the owner’s manuals of all devices that will be connected, and
follow their instructions.
Do not bundle connecting cables with power cords. Doing so could
cause noise.

Notes about the remote control
Precautions for use
When using the remote control, point it toward the remote control
signal receiver on the main unit from a distance of 7 m (23 ft) or less.
Do not place obstructions between the main unit and the remote
control.
Moreover, operation from an angle can make reception difficult, so
use the remote facing the front of the main unit as much as possible.

oThe remote control might not work if the remote control signal
receiver is exposed to direct sunlight or bright light.
oBeware that use of this remote control could cause the unin-
tentional operation of other devices that can be controlled by
infrared rays.
Installing batteries
Remove the cover from the back of the remote control and insert
two AAA batteries with their oriented as shown in the case. ¥ ^/
Replace the cover.
When to replace batteries
If the distance required between the remote and the main unit
decreases or if the unit stops responding to the remote buttons,
replace both batteries with new ones.
Dispose of the used batteries according to the instructions on them
or requirements set by your local municipality.
CAUTION
VMisuse of batteries could cause them to rupture
or leak, which might result in fire, injury or the
staining of nearby materials.
Please read and observe the precautions on
page 5 carefully.

A INPUT knob
Turn this knob to select the active input. Select the input that is
connected to the device you want to use.
oYou can change the names that are shown on the display for
the connectors (page 22).
When the Settings Screen is open, use this to change setting
values.
When inputting a source name, use this to move the cursor.
B Remote control signal receiver
This receives signals from the remote control. When using the
remote control, point the end of it toward this receiver panel
(page 13).
C Display
Shows the current input source name, volume, setting items, etc.
D VOLUME knob
Use to adjust the volume.
Turn this knob clockwise to increase the volume and counter-
clockwise to decrease it.
oThe VOLUME knob will not affect input sources set to through
output (page 24).
VSudden loud noises might cause hearing damage and
other trouble. Always minimize the volume before
starting playback, and adjust it to an appropriate level
after playback begins.
E POWER button
Press to turn the unit on and off.
When the unit is on, the ring around the button lights blue.
oWhen not using the unit, turn it off.
oTo protect your speakers, follow the proper procedures when
you turn the unit on or off (pages 17 and 18).

F Tone controls
Use these to adjust the levels of different frequency ranges.
Turn toward + to increase the level, and turn toward − to decrease
it.
Set to the mark for a flat response (no adjustment).o
BASS
Adjust the level of low frequencies.
TREBLE
Adjust the level of high frequencies.
oThese adjustments only effect the output when TONE BYPASS
is off.
oWhen TONE BYPASS is off, “TONE” appears at the top of the
display.
G TONE BYPASS button
Use this to turn tone bypass on and off.
Press at least three seconds to open the Settings Screen.
H PHONO MM/MC button
Set for the cartridge type (MM/MC) used by the player con-
nected to the PHONO connectors (page 19).
I SPEAKER SELECT button
This selects which speaker connectors to use.
When the Settings Screen is open, press this to close it.
J BALANCE knob
Adjust the left-right volume balance.
K PHONES jack
Connect standard 6.3mm stereo plugs here.
oWhen a headphone plug is inserted, speaker sound output
will stop.
Connect a headphone plug (standard 6.3mm stereo) to the PHONES
jack, and adjust the volume to a suitable level.
V When using headphones, be careful not to turn the
volume up too much.

oThis remote control can also be used for other Esoteric products.
a Setting (STANDBY/ON) button
On the Settings Screen, use to confirm selection of some set-
tings and to input connector names.
oThis button does not turn the unit on/off.

Press these buttons to switch between input sources. Select the
connector that is connected to the device you want to play.
When the Settings Screen is open, use this to change setting
values.
When inputting a source name, use this to move the cursor.

d DIMMER button
Use to adjust the brightness of the display and indicators (page
20).
e VOLUME buttons (+/−)
Use to adjust the volume. Press the + button to increase the vol-
ume and the − button to decrease it.
oThe VOLUME buttons (+/−) will not affect input sources set to
through output (page 24).
f MUTE button
Press this button to temporarily mute the sound.
Press again to restore the volume setting (page 18).
oWhen muted, “MUTE” blinks on the screen.
If both the main unit and the remote control have buttons with
the same function, we only explain procedures using one of them
in this manual. However, the other can also be used in the same
manner.

Basic operation
4 Play the source, and then adjust the volume by turn-
ing the VOLUME knob.
VSudden loud noises might cause hearing damage
and other trouble. Always minimize the volume
before starting playback, and adjust it to an
appropriate level after playback begins.
Turning the unit on
1 Turn on the connected input source devices.
2 Press the POWER button to turn the unit on.
The ring around the button lights blue.
oWhen using this unit as a preamp, turn on the power ampli-
fier last.
3 Turn the INPUT knob to select an input source.

Turning the unit off
There might be noise from the speakers if the unit is turned off sud-
denly. When you turn the unit off, follow the steps below.
1 If a connected device is playing back, stop playback.
oWhen using this unit as a preamp, turn off the power ampli-
fier first.
2 Turn the unit’s VOLUME knob counterclockwise to
minimize the volume.
VAlways turn the volume to the minimum level
before you turn the unit on or off. Failure to do so
could cause sudden loud noises that might result
in harm to your hearing or damage to the speakers
when you turn the unit on.
3 Press the POWER button to turn the unit o.
4 Turn o the connected input source devices.
Muting the output
Press the remote control MUTE button to temporarily mute the
sound. Press again to restore the volume setting.
oWhen muted, “MUTE” blinks on the screen.
oYou can also restore the sound by turning the VOLUME knob or by
pressing the VOLUME buttons (+/−).

Tone controls
You can separately adjust the levels of low (BASS) and high (TREBLE)
frequencies.
The at the center marks the unadjusted level.o
oThese adjustments have no effect when TONE BYPASS is on.
Before adjusting them, press the TONE BYPASS button so that
“TONE” appears at the top of the display.
Tone bypass
When TONE BYPASS is on, audio signals do not pass through the tone
circuit before amplification.
When TONE BYPASS is off, “TONE” appears at the top of the display.
Setting the cartridge type
Set the cartridge type being used by the record player connected to
the PHONO connectors.
Turn the INPUT knob to set the input source to PHONO before press-
ing the PHONO MM/MC button to change the setting.

Adjusting the balance
Adjust the balance between the left and right output channels.

Each time you press the DIMMER button, the brightness of the dis-

oEven when set to off, the display will light at normal brightness for
a few seconds when you press a button or turn a knob. If TONE
BYPASS is on, however, this will not light when the tone controls
are turned.

1 Press and hold the TONE BYPASS button for at least
3 seconds.
Press for at least

oYou can also press the SETUP button on the remote control.

When Settings Menu 1 is open, press and hold the TONE BYPASS
button for at least 3 seconds.
oYou can also press and hold the SETUP button on the remote
control for at least 3 seconds.

Show “goto MENU3” on Settings Menu 2, and press the PHONO
MM/MC button.
oYou can also press the setting (STANDBY/ON) button on the
remote control.
2 Press the TONE BYPASS button repeatedly to select
the item to change.
oYou can also repeatedly press the SETUP button on the
remote control.
oWhen making settings, the MENU icon appears on the
display.
oIf you do nothing for 10 or more seconds, setting mode will
end and ordinary display will resume.
3 Turn the INPUT knob to change the setting.
4 Press the SPEAKER SELECT button to complete making
settings.
If you do nothing for 10 or more seconds, setting mode will end
and ordinary display will resume.

In Settings Menu 1, you can make settings for the selected input
source.
You can set the output level adjustment, phase inversion and input
source name. You can set these independently for each of the inputs.
Adjusting the output level
Level>***
You can adjust the output level for the selected input.
You can set this to values between −18.0 dB and +18.0 dB in 0.5dB
increments.
The default value is 0.0 dB.
Note about settings and sound quality
The Level (output level adjustment) setting items affect the vol-
ume. This unit’s microcomputer analyzes these settings and the
volume level value comprehensively to conduct unified control of
volume amplification.
For this reason, unlike ordinary amplifiers that pass audio signals
through multiple circuits, these settings will not degrade the
audio quality.
Phase inversion
PHASE>***
This switches the phase of the selected input connector.
This can be used to reverse the phase of the audio signal output.
If the XLR connector of the audio output device is pin 3 HOT, select
INV.
By default, this is set to NOR.

When using XLR input connectors, pin 2 is HOT.

(This appears when the input source is XLR.)
You can change the names shown on the display for the unit’s con-
nectors when you turn the INPUT knob. You can set the names as you
like (up to five characters).

Use to change input source names.

1 Show “EDIT”, and press the PHONO MM/MC button.
You can also press the setting (STANDBY/ON) button on the
remote control.
2 Enter the characters.
The cursor blinks beneath the character being input.
Use the INPUT knob to move the cursor, and use the VOLUME
knob to select characters.
You can also use the remote control INPUT ( ) buttons to k j/
move the cursor and its VOLUME (+/−) buttons to change the
character.
3 When you have finished input, press the PHONO MM/MC
button to confirm the change.
oWhile entering the name, the volume and input connector
cannot be changed.

You can set the display backlight to automatically turn off if no opera-
tion is conducted for a certain amount of time. By default, the setting
is ON.

If no operation is conducted for 10 minutes, the display automati-
cally turns off.
OFF
The display will not turn off, but it will dim to the same brightness
as DIMMER1 to protect the display from wear.
oWe recommend setting this to “ON” because brightness irregulari-
ties might occur if the same information is shown without change
on the display for a long time.
Automatic power saving function

oBy default, the setting is 30m.
If there is no audio input (continuous silence) from the selected input
source for the set amount of time, the unit will turn off automatically.
oAudio input from input sources other than the one selected
has no effect on the operation of the automatic power saving
function.

VSettings Menu 3 includes setting items related to
amplification. These settings could result in damage
to speakers if set incorrectly.
In Settings Menu 3, you can make the following settings.

VIf you select inputs connected to an ordinary line-level
device, signals that are too strong could be output to the
speakers, resulting in damage to them.
“THRU” appears on the display instead of the volume level set by
using the VOLUME knob.
For example, if you connect the pre-out connectors (for example,
FRONT L/R) of an AV amplifier to this unit’s RCA 2 connectors, and
set RCA2 to THRU, you can use the speakers connected to this unit
as the front speakers of the AV amplifier. (The AV amplifier controls
volume adjustment when the input source is set to “RCA2”.)
oThe VOLUME knob will not affect the volume of the input con-
nectors set to THRU.
VAlways connect a device that has a volume control to the
input connectors set to THRU. Use that device to mini-
mize the volume before switching the input source, and
then gradually raise the volume level.

Operation mode

This sets the operation mode of the unit.
NORMAL
The unit will operate normally using its preamp and power amplifier.
PREAMP
The unit will be used as a preamp.
Use this setting when connecting the analog output (PRE OUT/
REC OUT) connectors to an external power amplifier and not
using this unit’s power amplifier.
Regardless of the PRE OUT output setting made in Settings Menu2,
the unit’s preamp output will be output from its analog output (PRE
OUT/REC OUT) connectors.
PWRAMP
The unit will be used as a power amplifier.
Use this setting when connecting the preamplifier output from
other devices to the preamp input (EXT. PRE IN) connectors on
this unit and adjusting the volume with those devices. The input
audio will be input directly to the power amplifier without passing
through the preamp circuit.
Restoring factory settings
You can restore the factory default settings, erasing all changes in
memory.
Turn the unit on while pressing and holding the TONE BYPASS button.

Troubleshooting
If you experience a problem with this unit, please take a moment
to review the following information before requesting service.
Moreover, the problem might be caused by something other than
this unit. Please also check the operation of the connected units.
If this product still does not operate correctly, contact the retailer
where you purchased it.
The unit does not turn on.
eCheck that the power cord is plugged into a working power
outlet.
eCheck that the power cord is properly connected to this unit.
The unit automatically turns off.
eThis is because the automatic power saving function turned it
off.
Press the POWER button on the main unit to turn it on.
Change the automatic power saving setting if necessary (page
23).
Remote control does not work.
eTurn the main unit on (page 17).
eIf the batteries are exhausted, replace both of them with new
ones (page 13).
eThe remote control will not work if there is an obstruction
between it and the main unit. Point the remote control toward
the main unit and use it within 7 m (23 ft) of the front panel
(page 13).
A television or other device is operating improperly.
eThe use of this unit’s remote control might cause some tele-
visions with wireless remote control functions to operate
incorrectly.
VOLUME knob does not work.
eThe VOLUME knob will not affect input sources set to through
output (page 24).
Volume display blinks.
eThe volume value exceeds the maximum total gain of this unit.
Lower the volume until the display stops blinking.
An error message appears.
eA protection circuit is active. Turn the unit off and eliminate the
cause (page 11).
eA short might have occurred with the +/− speaker cables.
Check the speaker cable connections (page 11).
The stereo sound position is irregular.
eCheck that neither of the speakers has a connection cable with
+/− reversed.
This unit uses a microprocessor, so noise and other external
interference could cause it to stop functioning properly. If this
occurs, turn the unit off once, and then restart it after waiting
for about one minute.

oPlacez l’unité sur une surface stable près du système audio que
vous allez utiliser avec elle.
oN’installez pas cette unité dans un lieu qui pourrait chauffer. Cela

Notes sur les câbles d’enceintes
oUtilisez des câbles d’enceinte du commerce pour brancher les
enceintes.
oUtilisez les câbles d’enceinte les plus courts possibles. Plus le câble
est long, plus grande est la valeur de la résistance et plus les per-
formances d’amortissement sont réduites. En outre, la longueur
accroît également l’impédance et la capacitance, dégradant la
qualité sonore dans les hautes fréquences.
oUtilisez des câbles de même longueur pour les enceintes gauche
et droite.
Comment brancher les câbles d’enceinte
Utilisez des câbles d’enceinte du commerce pour relier le bornier +
de l’unité au bornier + de l’enceinte et le bornier − de l’unité au bor-
nier − de l’enceinte.
oUtilisez des enceintes d’au moins 4Ω d’impédance.
oSi vous envisagez de diffuser le son au travers de deux jeux d’en-
ceintes en même temps, utilisez des enceintes d’au moins 8 Ω
d’impédance.
oSi l’extrémité dénudée d’un conducteur de câble d’enceinte entre
en contact avec un autre câble ou bornier, un court-circuit peut se
produire.
Ne laissez jamais un câble d’enceinte entrer en court-circuit.
oNe connectez pas plusieurs amplificateurs à une même enceinte.
oNe regroupez pas des câbles d’enceinte avec des cordons d’ali-
mentation. Cela pourrait entraîner des bruits.
VLa fiche d’alimentation doit toujours être débran-

et la base du bornier. Revissez ensuite le capuchon.
oSi vous utilisez une cosse à fourche pour le branchement, elle doit
avoir un diamètre interne d’au moins 8 mm.
Si vous utilisez des fiches bananes
Le capuchon étant vissé, insérez la fiche dans l’ouverture à l’extrémité
du bornier.
oLisez attentivement les instructions concernant les fiches bananes
que vous utilisez.
Remarque concernant le modèle européen
Conformément aux réglementations de sécurité européennes, le
branchement de fiches bananes à des borniers d’enceinte n’est
pas autorisé sur les modèles européens. Les orifices dans lesquels
pourraient s’insérer les fiches bananes ont été occultés par des
capuchons noirs. Branchez les enceintes à l’aide de câbles nus ou
portant des cosses à fourche. Si un capuchon noir sort de son bor-
nier, remettez-le en place.
Cette unité possède un circuit de protection contre la composante
continue du courant, un circuit de protection contre les surintensités
et un circuit de protection contre la surchauffe.
Lorsqu’un circuit de protection entre en action, le pourtour de la
touche POWER clignote et un des messages d’erreur suivants cli-
gnote à l’écran.

Le circuit de protection contre la composante continue du courant
est activé.
Éteignez l’unité et attendez quelques minutes avant de la rallumer.
OverCURNT!
Le circuit de protection contre la surintensité est activé.
Un court-circuit peut s’être produit avec les câbles d’enceinte
+/−. Dans ce cas, éteignez l’unité et vérifiez les branchements des
enceintes.
Over TEMP!
Le circuit de protection thermique est activé.
La température interne est devenue trop élevée. Éteignez l’unité
et attendez un moment que la température diminue. Vous pouvez
également changer les conditions d’installation pour améliorer la
ventilation.
oSi le circuit de protection thermique reste activé durant
30secondes, l’unité s’éteint automatiquement d’elle-même.
Après cela, l’interrupteur d’alimentation POWER reste désactivé
tant que la température interne est trop élevée.
Si le voyant continue de clignoter même après élimination des causes
probables, contactez le magasin dans lequel vous avez acheté l’unité.

Notes à propos de la télécommande
Précautions d’emploi
Pour utiliser la télécommande, pointez-la vers le capteur de télécom-
mande de l’unité principale dans un rayon maximal de 7m. Ne placez
pas d’obstacles entre l’unité principale et la télécommande.
En outre, une utilisation sur le côté peut rendre difficile la réception,
alors utilisez la télécommande autant que possible en face de l’unité
principale.

Capteur de signal de télécommande
oLa télécommande peut ne pas fonctionner si le capteur de signal
de télécommande est exposé à la lumière du soleil ou à une forte
source lumineuse.
oSachez que l’emploi de cette télécommande peut entraîner le
déclenchement involontaire d’opérations sur d’autres appareils
contrôlables par rayons infrarouges.
Installation des piles
Ouvrez l’arrière de la télécommande et insérez deux piles AAA avec
leurs pôles orientés comme indiqué dans le boîtier. Replacez ¥ ^/
le couvercle.
Quand faut-il remplacer les piles?
Si la portée d’action de la télécommande diminue ou si l’unité princi-
pale cesse de répondre aux touches de la télécommande, remplacez
les deux piles par des neuves.
Jetez les piles usagées conformément à leurs instructions ou aux
directives établies par votre municipalité.

oLorsque vous utilisez cette unité comme préampli, éteignez
l’amplificateur de puissance en premier.
2 Tournez le bouton VOLUME de l’unité dans le sens
antihoraire pour ramener le volume au minimum.
VAbaissez toujours le volume au minimum avant

Remarque concernant les réglages et la qualité sonore
Les paramètres de réglage LEVEL (niveau de sortie) influent sur le
volume. Le microprocesseur de cette unité analyse ces réglages et
la valeur des niveaux de volume afin d’effectuer un contrôle unifié
de l’amplification de volume.
Pour cette raison, contrairement aux amplificateurs ordinaires qui
font passer les signaux audio au travers de multiples circuits, ces
réglages ne dégradent pas la qualité audio.
Inversion de phase

Vous pouvez changer le nom affiché à l’écran pour les prises de
l’unité quand vous changez de source d’entrée. Vous pouvez choisir
les noms que vous voulez (jusqu’à 5 caractères).
EDIT
Sert à changer le nom des sources d’entrée.
Changement du nom des sources d’entrée
1 Affichez «EDIT», et appuyez sur la touche PHONO MM/MC.
Vous pouvez également appuyer sur la touche de réglage
(STANDBY/ON) de la télécommande.
2 Saisissez les caractères.
Le curseur clignote sous le caractère en cours de saisie.
Déplacez le curseur avec le bouton INPUT et sélectionnez les
caractères avec le bouton VOLUME.
Vous pouvez également utiliser les touches INPUT (k j/ )
de la télécommande pour déplacer le curseur et ses touches
VOLUME (+/−) pour changer le caractère.
3 Quand vous avez fini la saisie, appuyez sur la touche
PHONO MM/MC pour valider le changement.
oPendant la saisie d’un nom, il n’est pas possible de changer de
volume ni de prise d’entrée.

Utilisez ce paramètre pour déterminer ce que produisent les prises de
sortie analogique (PRE OUT/REC OUT).

La sortie audio est désactivée.
PRE
Le son sortant du préampli est produit.
Tourner le bouton VOLUME changera le volume.
REC
Les signaux entrant sont renvoyés sans changement.
Extinction automatique du rétroéclairage
d’écran

Vous pouvez régler le rétroéclairage de l’écran pour qu’il s’éteigne
automatiquement si aucune opération n’est effectuée durant un cer-
tain temps. Par défaut, le réglage est ON.
ON
Si aucune opération n’a été effectuée depuis 10minutes, l’écran
s’éteint automatiquement.
OFF
L’écran ne s’éteint pas, mais s’atténue pour protéger l’écran de
l’usure en ramenant la luminosité au niveau DIMMER1.
oNous vous recommandons le réglage «ON» car des irrégularités
de luminosité peuvent se produire si la même information est affi-
chée à l’écran de façon prolongée.
Fonction d’économie automatique d’énergie

oPar défaut, le réglage est 30m.
S’il n’y a pas d’entrée audio (silence continu) venant de la source
d’entrée sélectionnée pendant la durée définie, l’unité s’éteint auto-
matiquement.
oUne entrée audio provenant de sources d’entrée autres que celle
sélectionnée n’a aucun effet sur la fonction d’économie automa-
tique d’énergie.

Appuyez sur la touche PHONO MM/MC pour ouvrir le Menu 3 des
réglages.
Vous pouvez également appuyer sur la touche de réglage (STANDBY/
ON) de la télécommande.

VLe Menu 3 des réglages comprend des paramètres
de réglage concernant l’amplification. Des réglages
incorrects de ces paramètres peuvent causer des
dommages aux enceintes.

Déterminez si vous souhaitez utiliser les prises d’entrée pour simple-
ment faire traverser le signal et le renvoyer tel quel.
Par défaut, le réglage est OFF.
OFF
Il n’y a aucun renvoi d’entrée.

Seuls les signaux des prises d’entrée sélectionnées contournent le
préampli et entrent directement dans l’amplificateur de puissance.
VSi vous sélectionnez des entrées auxquelles est branché
un appareil de niveau ligne ordinaire, des signaux trop
puissants risquent d’être envoyés aux enceintes, avec
pour conséquence de les endommager.
«THRU» s’affiche à la place du niveau de volume réglé quand on
utilise le bouton VOLUME.
Par exemple, si vous branchez les prises de sortie de préampli (par
ex. FRONT L/R) d’un amplificateur AV aux prises RCA 2 de cette
unité et si vous réglez RCA2 sur THRU, vous pouvez utiliser les
enceintes branchées à cette unité comme enceintes de façade
pour l’amplificateur AV (l’amplificateur AV contrôle le volume
lorsque la source d’entrée est réglée sur «RCA2»).
oLe bouton VOLUME n’agit pas sur le volume des prises d’entrée
réglées sur THRU.
VLes prises d’entrée réglées sur THRU doivent toujours
êtres reliées à un appareil disposant d’une commande
de volume. Utilisez cet appareil pour baisser le volume
avant de basculer sur cette source d’entrée puis montez
progressivement le volume.

Mode de fonctionnement
AMP>***
Ce paramètre définit le mode de fonctionnement de l’unité.
NORMAL
L’unité fonctionne normalement en utilisant son préampli et son
amplificateur de puissance.
PREAMP
L’unité sera utilisée seulement comme préampli.
Choisissez ce réglage si vous branchez les prises de sortie analo-
gique (PRE OUT/REC OUT) à un amplificateur de puissance externe
et n’utilisez pas l’amplificateur de puissance de cette unité.
Quel que soit le réglage de sortie PRE OUT fait dans le Menu 2 des
réglages, la sortie de préampli de l’unité se fera par ses prises de
sortie analogique (PRE OUT/REC OUT).
PWRAMP
L’unité sera utilisée uniquement comme amplificateur de puissance.
Choisissez ce réglage si vous branchez la sortie de préamplificateur
d’autres appareils aux prises d’entrée pour préampli (EXT. PRE IN)
de cette unité et réglez le volume à l’aide de ces appareils. L’entrée
audio se fera directement dans l’amplificateur de puissance sans
passer par le circuit de préampli.
Rappel des réglages d’usine
Vous pouvez restaurer les réglages d’usine par défaut, ce qui efface
tous les changements que vous avez apportés à la mémoire.
Mettez l’unité sous tension en maintenant la touche TONE BYPASS
pressée.
