Headset for Bluetooth Phones

Thank you for purchasing the JABRA FreeSpeak headset.

Your FreeSpeak enables convenient cord-free communications with

Bluetooth mobile phones and other Bluetooth devices. It works

with Bluetooth devices from a variety of different manufacturers,

provided they are compatible with Bluetooth (version 1.1 or higher)

and support the Bluetooth headset profile.

To learn how to use your FreeSpeak appropriately, please take a

few moments to read the manual thoroughly and retain it for future

reference. For your safety, please ensure that you are fully

accustomed with FreeSpeak before using it while driving.

Full charging provides up to 3 hours of talk time or up to 96 hours

of standby time. FreeSpeak’s battery does not need to be completely

used before charging. If the charger is left connected, it will not

overcharge the battery.

Low Battery Warning Indicators: The headset needs to be recharged

(steps 1-5) when you hear 3 rapid high-pitched tones through the

headset’s speaker at 30 second intervals, or when you see the

indicator flash quickly 3 times every 3 seconds. Once the low battery

indicators start, you have approximately 3 to 5 minutes of talk time

remaining.

Turning your headset ON and OFF

To turn your FreeSpeak ON:

1. Remove the headset from the charging cradle.

2. Press and hold the button firmly for at least 3 seconds until

the indicator light emits a very short burst of flashes and the

speaker emits a quick series of beeps in ascending order.

3. Without delay, release the button.

An indicator light on the outside of your FreeSpeak will flash every

3 seconds while the headset is turned on. The headset is now in

‘standby’ mode and ready for use. If you remove your headset from

the charging cradle (with the AC power adapter plugged in), then

your headset will automatically turn on (standby mode).

To turn your FreeSpeak OFF:

1. Press and hold the button firmly for at least 3 seconds until

the indicator light emits a very short burst of flashes and the

speaker emits a quick series of beeps in descending order.

2. Without delay, release the button. The headset is now turned off.

There will be no indicator light activity in this mode. You will need

to wait 5 seconds before turning it on again.

As long as you are recharging your headset regularly, you do not

need to turn your headset off after using it – you only need to end

the call (see Ending a call).

Preparing Your JABRA FreeSpeak

Charging the battery and talk time

Before using FreeSpeak you will need to put the headset in its

charging cradle and charge it fully. (The headset may be either on or

off.) Insert FreeSpeak carefully by holding it on both sides and push-

ing it in while rotating counterclockwise, as shown below. To remove

the headset, carefully hold the headset on both sides and pull while

rotating clockwise, following the same sequence shown below, but

in reverse.

To begin charging:

1Plug the AC power adapter into the charging cradle.

2. Plug the AC power adapter’s plug into an electrical wall outlet.

3. While charging, the indicator light on the headset is on and

remains lit until charging is complete. The FreeSpeak headset

indicator light will only turn on if the headset is fully inserted into

its charging cradle. If the light on the FreeSpeak still does not turn

on, see Troubleshooting.

4. Charge the unit for approximately 2 hours or until the indicator

light goes out.

5. You can now remove the headset from the charging cradle.

If you remove your headset from the charging cradle (with the AC

power adapter plugged in), then your headset will automatically turn

on (standby mode). If there is an incoming call and your headset is in

the charging cradle (with the AC power adapter plugged in), then you

can answer the call on your headset simply by removing your headset

from the charging cradle.

8. Your phone’s display may also ask whether you want to change

the headset’s name. If so prompted, we recommend that you

approve the ‘JABRA BT200’ name rather than modify it.

9. If the FreeSpeak indicator light is still steadily lit, pairing was

unsuccessful and you will need to turn FreeSpeak off, return

to step 1, and try again.

Attaching the charging cradle clip

The charging cradle can be fastened to a belt or purse using the

supplied clip. To attach the clip:

1. Locate the two slots on the charging cradle as shown below.

2. Position the clip with one flange in one slot. (Ensure that the hinge

of the belt clip is in the same orientation relative to the charging

cradle as shown.)

3. Press clip gently onto the charging cradle until the other flange fits

into the other slot securely. You should hear a clicking sound when

the clip is correctly attached.

Introduction to Bluetooth ‘pairing’

With a Bluetooth phone or other device, you must ‘pair’ the headset

with the device before you use your headset for the first time.

‘Pairing’ creates a unique wireless link between two Bluetooth

devices, eliminating the need to repeat the pairing process during

future use. The pairing process may vary depending on the device

with which you pair FreeSpeak (see the device’s operating guide).

The following section describes how to pair your FreeSpeak headset

to a typical Bluetooth phone.

Pairing to a Bluetooth phone

To pair your FreeSpeak with a Bluetooth phone:

1. Ensure that the FreeSpeak headset is off (see Turning your headset

ON and OFF).

2. Press and hold down the button for approximately 7 seconds

until the headset indicator light turns on steadily. (There will be

some short flashes before it goes on steadily.)

3. While the light is still steadily lit, release the button. The

indicator light will remain on, indicating that the FreeSpeak is in

pairing mode and waiting to communicate with another Bluetooth

pairing device.

4. Follow the operating instructions for your Bluetooth phone to start

the pairing process. Typically, this is done by going to a ‘setup’ or

‘connect’ menu and then selecting the options to ‘discover’

Bluetooth devices. It may take several seconds to establish a

connection.

5. Your phone’s display should indicate to you that it found the

‘JABRA BT200’ headset and ask if you want to pair it. You should

confirm this.

6. The phone’s display should then prompt you for a passkey or PIN.

Enter a sequence of four zeros: 0000.

7. To indicate that pairing has been successful, the headset indicator

light will briefly flash rapidly before it goes back to flashing every

3 seconds (standby mode).

Making a call

Now that you are wearing FreeSpeak (in standby mode), there are

different ways to make a call.

Calling with the phone’s keypad

1. Using the phone’s keypad, dial the phone number.

2. Press the phone’s ‘send’ key – the phone initiates the call and

transfers the call from the phone to the headset automatically.

Calling with the headset using voice commands

If your phone supports voice-activated dialing, you can use this

feature with FreeSpeak. Note that voice-activated dialing on your

phone must be enabled and voice tags (names and commands)

previously stored. (Please refer to the phone’s user guide for

instructions on storing voice tags.)

1. Place the headset in the desired wearing style.

2. Briefly press the button on the headset.

3. After the tone, say the name of the person you wish to call.

4. The phone automatically dials your selection, and you see the

details of the call on the phone screen (varies with phone model).

5. When connected, you are free to communicate normally.

Hint: We recommend that you record all such voice tags using

FreeSpeak in order to ”train” your phone to recognize voice tags

that come through FreeSpeak’s microphone instead of the phone’s

microphone. Please consult your phone manufacturer’s web site for

the latest recording methods and known issues.

Ending a call

Use either of the following methods to end a call:

•To end a call from the headset – press the headset’s button.

•End a call from the phone’s keypad.

After either method you should hear a series of descending tones.

The indicator light on the headset should also be flashing once every

3 seconds indicating that the headset is in standby mode and

that you have ended your call.

Using Your JABRA FreeSpeak Headset

Once you have charged, paired, and placed FreeSpeak in standby

mode, you are ready to wear and use FreeSpeak.

About the MiniGel™

If this is your first JABRA product, you may be new to the MiniGel,

which is an evolution of JABRA’s EarGel®. The soft ergonomic gel tip

on the end of the FreeSpeak is partially inserted into your ear canal.

It channels sound directly into your ear without occluding it. This

improves your ability to hear conversations clearly even when your

local environment is noisy. The MiniGel works for either the left or

right ear depending on your preference. To care for your MiniGel,

remove it from the headset by gently lifting and pulling it off the

speaker housing. Then, wash it in warm, soapy water. Never use your

FreeSpeak headset without a MiniGel.

Choosing left or right ear wearing style

FreeSpeak can be worn on either ear. The MiniGel is attached in the

factory for wearing in the right ear. To reposition it for wearing in

the left ear:

1. Carefully remove the MiniGel by gently lifting and pulling it off

the speaker housing.

2. Rotate the MiniGel 180 degrees from its original orientation.

3. Replace the MiniGel onto the speaker housing.

Placing the headset on your ear

Initially, you may find it convenient to use a mirror as you follow the

instructions below. After some practice, you should be able to place

the headset on your ear with just one hand.

Controlling headset volume

FreeSpeak offers louder speaker

volume than most headsets due to

its active battery-powered amplifier. You may adjust the volume of its

speaker to eight pre-set levels. A recessed oval area identifies the part

of the button which decreases the volume. As you press the unit’s

volume control, you should hear the volume change. At the loudest

and softest levels, you will hear a single beep, indicating maximum and

minimum volume. In addition, some phones allow you to control the

volume of FreeSpeak by using the phone’s volume controls. This

feature varies by manufacturer.

Understanding the FreeSpeak indicators

FreeSpeak provides indications of charging, pairing, and calling status

as described in the following table.

Answering a Call

Once FreeSpeak is in standby mode, it enables you to receive

incoming calls without handling your phone. During an incoming call,

a ring tone will sound on your phone, as usual. You will also hear ring

tones through the headset’s speaker. When you hear the tones,

answer your incoming call by pressing the button on your

FreeSpeak and speak normally. If there is an incoming call and your

headset is in the charging cradle (with the AC power adapter plugged

in), then you can answer the call on your headset simply by removing

your headset from the charging cradle.

You may also answer the call by using your phone’s keypad. In

this case you can transfer the call to the headset by following the

instructions in the next section.

Transferring a call

To transfer a call from the phone to the headset, briefly press the

headset’s button. If the headset is off, you will simply need to

turn it on (see Turning your headset ON and OFF).

To transfer a call from the headset to the phone, turn the headset off

(see Turning your headset ON and OFF). Note that some phones will

require you to complete the transfer using the phone’s keypad.

Call-waiting

Some phones allow you to accept another incoming call while you

are using FreeSpeak. This feature varies by mobile service provider

and phone model. If you normally hear a beep, you will still hear this

beep with your headset. If your phone service supports this feature,

you can use either your phone’s keypad or your headset. To use your

phone’s keypad (recommended), you can switch between calls using

the standard method as specified by your phone manufacturer. To use

the headset to switch between calls, briefly press FreeSpeak’s

button once. As with your phone controls, you may then return to the

initial call by briefly pressing the button once more.

Frequently asked questions

How far from my phone will my JABRA wireless headset work?

Your JABRA headset range is typically up to 30 feet (approximately

10 meters) from the Bluetooth phone. In general, you will get the best

performance when there are no obstructions (including parts of your

body) between your FreeSpeak headset and Bluetooth phone. As the

limits of the range are reached, you will hear a crackling noise along

with your conversation.

Will anything interfere with my conversation when I use a

JABRA wireless headset?

Appliances such as cordless phones and wireless networking equipment

may cause interference with your conversation, usually adding a

crackling noise. In rare cases, interference may prevent the headset

from communicating altogether. To reduce any interference, keep

FreeSpeak away from other devices that use or produce radio waves.

Will my JABRA wireless headset interfere with my car’s electronics,

radio, or computer?

Your JABRA wireless headset produces significantly less power than a

typical mobile phone. It also emits signals only in compliance with the

international Bluetooth standard (www.bluetooth.com). Subsequently,

you should not expect any interference with standard consumer-grade

electronics equipment.

Can my conversation be heard by other Bluetooth phone users?

When you pair your headset to your Bluetooth phone, you are creating

a private link between only these two Bluetooth devices. The wireless

Bluetooth technology used in your headset is not easily monitored by

third parties. In addition, Bluetooth wireless signals are significantly

lower in power than those produced by a typical mobile phone. Thus,

these signals are much harder to detect by third parties.

What about radio frequency power?

The FreeSpeak headset produces 1%, or less, of a typical mobile

phone’s radio frequency power.

Is it OK to wear my FreeSpeak in the rain or shower?

FreeSpeak is NOT a waterproof device. Do not wear your headset in

the rain or shower. Exposure to water may damage the product.

Learning how to use a Bluetooth headset takes more time than a

regular headset, but it offers considerable benefits once you’ve

mastered it. Here are some common symptoms and solutions that

will help get you going quickly.

• Ensure that the headset is fully inserted into

the charging cradle.

• Ensure that the AC power adapter is plugged

firmly into an electrical wall outlet.

• Ensure that the cable coming from the AC

power adapter is firmly plugged all the way

into the charging cradle.

• Ensure that the headset is charged, on, and

not in pairing mode.

• If your phone indicates that pairing was

unsuccessful, then ensure that all other near-

by Bluetooth devices (except the FreeSpeak

headset) are off and reattempt ‘pairing.’

• You may have to wait a little longer than

usual when activating calls on your regular

mobile phone. If the delay is too long and

you miss a call, you can either change the

number of rings before your phone goes to

voicemail or you can answer calls using your

phone’s keypad first.

• If you connect to numerous Bluetooth

devices and have previously ‘paired’ them

with your phone, you may find that your

phone responds faster if you eliminate

any unneeded devices from the list of

Bluetooth devices registered in your phone.

What is that beeping sound in my ear?

Beeping sounds may come from a number of sources. They may

be part of the mobile service/phone indicating that you have a

call-waiting or that your mobile phone’s battery is low.

You will also hear a beeping sound when the JABRA headset’s

battery is low. This beeping will sound like a short sequence of tones

as described in Understanding the FreeSpeak indicators.

Nothing is working – what should I do?

The best place to start is at the Troubleshooting section of this

manual. If none of the suggestions work, then please visit our web

site at www.jabra.com/fscs for the latest customer support information

or contact us through the methods listed.

Will FreeSpeak work with laptops, PCs, and PDAs?

The FreeSpeak headset will work with all devices that are compliant

with Bluetooth version 1.1 and include the ‘headset’ profile. The first

such suppliers included many cellular phone manufacturers and some

personal digital assistant (PDA) manufacturers. As Bluetooth becomes

widespread, more and more manufacturers will support ‘headset’

profile implementations of Bluetooth.

Can the battery be recycled?

Yes, lithium polymer batteries can be recycled. Recycling regulations

vary depending on where you live so please dispose of the headset

accordingly.

Why don’t I get as much talk time as I used to?

Your battery may have exceeded the manufacturer’s total number

of recharging cycles. Contact JABRA customer support or go to

www.jabra.com/fscs for further information.

How do I take care of FreeSpeak?

The headset is virtually maintenance-free.

1. To clean the headset, use a clean, soft cloth that is slightly damp.

2. Do not expose FreeSpeak to extreme temperatures, such as

storing it on a vehicle dashboard.

Your phone’s manual should indicate how

devices. You may need to turn off the power

to your phone and then turn it back on

again.

• There may be interference present in your

environment; distance yourself from any

known wireless devices.

• Some phones have difficulties with Bluetooth

devices. You may need to turn off the power

to your phone and then turn it back on

again.

• You may need to reset the headset. This

can be done by placing the headset back

into the charging cradle for recharging (see

Charging the battery and talk time). Wait 5

seconds while the reset process completes.

Then you can disconnect the charger and

attempt to use your headset again.

• There is an interfering signal nearby.

• You have exceeded the 30 ft. wireless range.

• You may have pressed the button too

long when you were answering or making a

call. The headset went into pairing mode.

To turn the headset off press and hold the

button for 3 seconds. You will NOT

have to pair your headset again.

JABRA warrants to Purchaser that for a period of one (1) year after the date

of purchase (the “Warranty Period”) of any JABRA Product (“Product”) by

Purchaser, the Product will substantially conform to JABRA’s published

specifications for the Product on the date of Purchaser’s purchase of the

Product, subject to the terms herein. Purchaser shall notify JABRA of any

nonconformance during the Warranty Period and obtain a return material

authorization (“RMA”), by phone at (800) 327-2230, or (858) 622-9955, or by

email at info@jabra.com or in writing to the address listed below. Purchaser

must send the nonconforming Product with the original receipt, or a copy of the

original receipt, as proof of purchase date and the RMA number that has been

FreeSpeak de JABRA para teléfonos Bluetooth

Gracias por comprar el casco telefónico FreeSpeak de JABRA.

Su FreeSpeak le permite la comunicación inalámbrica con teléfonos

móviles y otros dispositivos Bluetooth. Funciona con los dispositivos

Bluetooth producidos por diferentes fabricantes siempre y cuando

sean compatibles con Bluetooth (versión 1.1 o posterior) y se

Cuando el casco está totalmente cargado, puede hablar durante

3 horas permanece hasta 96 horas en modo de espera. No es

necesario agotar la batería del FreeSpeak antes de recargarla. Aunque

quede conectado el cargador, éste no va a sobrecargar la batería.

Indicadores de advertencia de bateria baja: El casco debe

recargarse (seguir los pasos 1 al 5) cuando se escuchan 3 sonidos

agudos y rápidos a través del altavoz del casco a intervalos de 30

segundos o cuando la luz indicadora se enciende intermitentemente

3 veces cada 3 segundos. Una vez activado el indicador de batería

baja, usted tiene aproximadamente de 3 a 5 minutos para continuar

hablando antes de que se interrumpa la comunicación.

Cómo ENCENDER y APAGAR el casco

Para encender el FreeSpeak:

1. Retire el casco de la base.

2. Pulse el botón y manténgalo pulsado firmemente durante al

menos tres segundos hasta que la luz indicadora se encienda por

lapsos intermitentes muy cortos y el altavoz emita una serie de

sonidos rápidos en orden ascendente.

3. Suelte el botón enseguida. Una luz indicadora en la parte exterior

del FreeSpeak se encenderá intermitentemente cada tres

segundos mientras el casco está encendido. Enseguida el casco

queda en modo de ‘espera’ y está listo para usar. Si retira el casco

de la base (con el adaptador CA conectado), entonces el casco se

enciende automáticamente (modo de espera).

Para apagar el FreeSpeak:

1. Pulse el botón y manténgalo firmemente pulsado durante al

menos tres segundos hasta que la luz indicadora se encienda por

lapsos intermitentes muy cortos y el altavoz emita una serie de

sonidos rápidos en orden descendente.

2. Suelte el botón enseguida. El casco queda apagado. En este modo

no se enciende la luz indicadora. Debe esperar 5 segundos antes

de volverlo a encender. Siempre y cuando el casco se cargue

frecuentemente, no es necesario apagarlo después de usarlo –

sólo debe terminar la llamada (véase Cómo terminar llamadas).

Cargado de la batería y tiempo de conversación

Antes de usar el FreeSpeak debe colocar el casco en la base para

que cargue por completo. (El casco puede estar encendido o

apagado). Inserte con cuidado el FreeSpeak sosteniéndolo por los

lados para empujarlo y rotarlo en sentido contrario a las manecillas

del reloj, tal como se ilustra abajo. Para retirar el casco, sosténgalo

de los lados con cuidado y tire de éste rotándolo a la vez en sentido

de las manecillas del reloj y siguiendo la misma secuencia ilustrada

abajo pero invirtiendo el orden.

Para comenzar a cargar el casco:

1Conecte el adaptador CA a la base.

2. Conecte el adaptador CA a un enchufe de pared.

3. La luz indicadora se enciende mientras el casco esté cargando

y sigue encendida hasta que éste termine de cargar. La luz

indicadora del casco FreeSpeak sólo se enciende cuando el casco

está bien insertado en la base. Si sigue sin encenderse, por favor

consulte la sección de Localización de averías.

4. Cargue la unidad durante dos horas aproximadamente o hasta que

se apague la luz indicadora.

5. En este momento puede retirar el casco de la base.

Si retira el casco de la base (con el adaptador CA conectado),

entonces el casco se enciende automáticamente (modo de espera).

Si entra una llamada y su casco está cargando en la base (con el

adaptador CA conectado), entonces puede contestar la llamada

sacando el casco de la base.

7. El acoplamiento es correcto cuando la luz indicadora del casco se

enciende intermitentemente por un instante antes de proceder a

encenderse intermitentemente cada 3 segundos (modo de

espera).

8. La pantalla de su teléfono también puede preguntarle si desea

cambiar el nombre del casco telefónico. Recomendamos que, en

caso de que le pregunte, acepte el nombre ‘JABRA BT200’ sin

modificarlo.

9. Si la luz indicadora del FreeSpeak continúa encendida

constantemente, el acople no es correcto y debe apagar el

FreeSpeak, volviendo al paso 1 e intentando de nuevo.

Para sujetar la pinza de la base

La base puede sujetarse a un cinturón o bolso utilizando la pinza

suministrada. Para sujetarla:

1. Localice las dos ranuras en la base tal como se muestra abajo.

2. Coloque la pinza de modo que una de las espigas entre en una de

las ranuras. (La articulación de la pinza debe ir en la misma

orientación con respecto a la base, tal como se ilustra).

3. Empuje la pinza suavemente hacia la base hasta que la otra espiga

quede asegurada en su lugar. Se escucha un “clic” cuando ésta

queda sujetada correctamente.

Cómo usar el casco telefónico FreeSpeak de JABRA

Una vez el FreeSpeak está cargado, acoplado y colocado en modo

de espera, puede colocárselo y comenzar a usarlo.

34Introducción al ‘acoplamiento’ al Bluetooth

Con el teléfono Bluetooth u otro dispositivo, es necesario ‘acoplar’

el casco a dicho dispositivo antes de usarlo por primera vez.

El ‘acoplamiento’ crea un enlace inalámbrico exclusivo entre dos

dispositivos Bluetooth eliminando así la necesidad de repetir el

proceso de acoplamiento durante su uso futuro. El proceso varía

dependiendo del dispositivo con el que se esté acoplando el

FreeSpeak (véase la guía de funcionamiento del dispositivo).

La sección a continuación describe cómo acoplar el casco FreeSpeak

a un teléfono Bluetooth común y corriente.

Acoplamiento a un teléfono Bluetooth

Para acoplar el FreeSpeak a un teléfono Bluetooth:

1. Compruebe que el casco FreeSpeak esté apagado (véase Cómo

ENCENDER y APAGAR el casco).

2. Pulse el botón y manténgalo pulsado durante aproximada-

mente 7 segundos hasta que la luz indicadora del casco se

encienda continuamente. (La luz se ilumina brevemente antes de

quedar completamente encendida).

3. Con la luz encendida constantemente, suelte el botón .

La luz indicadora seguirá encendida para señalar que el FreeSpeak

está en modo de acoplamiento y espera comunicarse con otro

dispositivo de acoplamiento Bluetooth.

4. Siga las instrucciones de operación del teléfono Bluetooth para

iniciar el proceso de acoplamiento. Generalmente esto se logra

procediendo a un menú de ‘instalación’ o ‘conexión’ y

seleccionando a continuación las opciones de ‘descubrir’ los

dispositivos Bluetooth. Es posible que demore unos cuantos

segundos para establecer la conexión.

5. La pantalla de su teléfono debe indicarle que encontró el casco

telefónico ‘JABRA BT200’ y le preguntará si desea acoplarlo.

Responda afirmativamente.

6. La pantalla del teléfono debe entonces solicitarle una contraseña o

clave (PIN). Ingrese una secuencia de cuatro ceros: 0000.

Cómo hacer llamadas

Después de colocado el FreeSpeak (en modo de espera), existen

diferentes maneras de hacer llamadas.

Cómo llamar con el teclado del teléfono

1. Con el teclado del teléfono, marque el número deseado.

2. Pulse la tecla ‘send’ (enviar) – el teléfono inicia la llamada y la

transfiere automáticamente del teléfono al casco.

Cómo llamar con el casco haciendo uso de los comandos de voz

Si su teléfono permite la marcación activada por voz, puede usar esta

opción con el FreeSpeak. Es necesario que la marcación por voz esté

activada y haber guardado con anterioridad los nombres y comandos

de voz. (Por favor consulte las instrucciones sobre cómo guardar los

nombres y comandos en la guía del usuario del teléfono).

1. Colóquese el casco en el estilo que prefiera.

2. Brevemente pulse el botón en el casco.

3. Después de escuchar el tono, diga el nombre de la persona a quien

va a llamar.

4. El teléfono automáticamente marca el número seleccionado y en la

pantalla del teléfono se ven los detalles de la llamada (cambia con el

modelo del teléfono).

5. Después de conectarse puede comunicarse normalmente.

Sugerencia: Recomendamos que grabe los nombres y comandos

utilizando el FreeSpeak para “entrenar” el teléfono en el reconocimiento

de los nombres y comandos que van a usarse con el micrófono del

FreeSpeak. Por favor consulte el sitio web del fabricante de su teléfono

para obtener los métodos de grabación más recientes y demás aspectos

conocidos.

Cómo terminar llamadas

Utilice uno de los siguientes métodos para terminar llamadas:

•Para terminar una llamada desde el casco – pulse el botón

en el casco.

•Termine una llamada desde el teclado del teléfono. Después de

usar cualquiera de los dos métodos se escucha una serie de tonos

descendentes. La luz indicadora en el casco también debe encenderse

intermitentemente una vez cada tres segundos señalando que el

casco está en modo de espera y que ha terminado la llamada.

36Descripción del MiniGel™

Si este es el primer producto JABRA que usted utiliza, quizá no está

familiarizado con el MiniGel, que es el resultado de la evolución del

EarGel®de JABRA. La suave punta ergonómica de gel en el extremo

del FreeSpeak se inserta parcialmente en el canal auditivo. Así

canaliza el sonido directamente hacia el oído sin ocluirlo, mejorando

la capacidad de escuchar claramente la conversación a pesar de un

entorno local ruidoso. El MiniGel funciona con la oreja izquierda o

derecha según lo prefiera. Para limpiar el MiniGel, retírelo del casco

levantándolo y tirando de éste suavemente para desprenderlo del

bastidor del altavoz. Enseguida lávelo con agua tibia y jabón. Nunca

use el casco telefónico FreeSpeak sin un MiniGel.

Selección del estilo en la oreja izquierda o derecha

El FreeSpeak se puede colocar en cualquiera de las dos orejas.

El MiniGel viene de fábrica listo para colocarse en el oído derecho.

Si desea adaptarlo al oído izquierdo:

1. Retire cuidadosamente el MiniGel levantándolo suavemente y

tirando de éste para desprenderlo del bastidor del altavoz.

2. Rote el MiniGel 180 grados con respecto a su orientación inicial.

3. Vuelva a colocar el MiniGel en el bastidor del altavoz.

Cómo colocarse el casco en el oído

Es posible que al principio sea más conveniente usar un espejo al

tiempo que sigue las instrucciones de abajo. Con la práctica podrá

colocarse el casco en la oreja con una sola mano.

1. Colóquese el casco detrás

de la oreja.

2. Doble la parte superior del

casco sobre la parte delantera

de la oreja.

3. Inserte el MiniGel en el canal

auditivo.

Cómo controlar el volumen

del casco

El FreeSpeak permite incrementar el volumen del altavoz más

que la mayoría de los cascos gracias a su amplificador alimentado

por batería. El volumen del altavoz se ajusta a ocho niveles

predeterminados. El área ovalada empotrada en la cavidad identifica la

parte del botón que disminuye el volumen. Al pulsar el control de

volumen de la unidad, debe escuchar el cambio de volumen. En los

niveles más altos y bajos se escucha un sonido corto y agudo que

indica el volumen máximo y mínimo. Además, algunos teléfonos

permiten controlar el volumen del FreeSpeak desde los controles de

volumen del teléfono. Esta opción depende de cada fabricante.

Cómo entender los indicadores del FreeSpeak

El FreeSpeak posee indicadores que señalan si el casco está

cargando, acoplándose o llamando, según se describe en la tabla

a continuación.

38Cómo contestar llamadas

Una vez el FreeSpeak queda en modo de espera, éste le permite

recibir las llamadas que entran sin necesidad de manipular el

teléfono. Al entrar una llamada, se oye repicar el teléfono

normalmente. También escuchará el timbre del teléfono a través del

altavoz del casco. Cuando lo escuche, conteste la llamada pulsando

el botón en su FreeSpeak y hable normalmente. Si entra una

llamada y el casco está en la base (con el adaptador CA conectado),

para contestar la llamada quite el casco de la base y conteste.

También puede contestar la llamada usando el teclado del teléfono.

En este caso, puede transferir la llamada al casco siguiendo las

instrucciones en la siguiente sección.

Cómo transferir llamadas

Para transferir una llamada del teléfono al casco, pulse brevemente el

botón del . Si está apagado el casco, sólo tiene que encenderlo

(véase Cómo ENCENDER y APAGAR el casco).

Para transferir una llamada del casco al teléfono, apague el casco

(véase Cómo ENCENDER y APAGAR el casco). Nótese que algunos

teléfonos deben completar la transferencia usando el teclado del

teléfono.

Llamadas en espera

Algunos teléfonos aceptan la entrada de otra llamada cuando se

está usando el FreeSpeak. Esta opción depende del proveedor de

servicios móviles y del modelo del teléfono. Si normalmente escucha

un sonido corto y agudo, lo seguirá escuchando con el casco. Si su

servicio telefónico permite esta opción, usted puede usar el teclado

telefónico o el casco. Para usar el teclado del teléfono (recomenda-

do), puede intercambiar llamadas como lo hace normalmente y tal

como lo especifica el fabricante del teléfono. Si usa el casco para

intercambiar llamadas, pulse brevemente el botón del

FreeSpeak una vez. Al igual que con los controles del teléfono,

puede volver a la llamada inicial pulsando brevemente el botón

una vez más.

¿A qué distancia máxima del teléfono funciona el casco

inalámbrico JABRA?

El rango máximo del casco JABRA es de aproximadamente

10 metros (30 pies) con respecto al teléfono Bluetooth. El mejor

desempeño normalmente se obtiene cuando no hay obstrucciones

(que incluyen partes del cuerpo) entre el casco FreeSpeak y el

teléfono Bluetooth. En el límite del rango se escucha un ruido

crepitante en la conversación.

¿Qué cosas interfieren con la conversación cuando uso el casco

inalámbrico JABRA?

Los aparatos eléctricos, por ejemplo los teléfonos inalámbricos y los

equipos con redes inalámbricas, podrían ocasionar interferencia con

la conversación en forma de un ruido crepitante. En contados casos la

interferencia impide completamente la comunicación. Para disminuir

la interferencia, el FreeSpeak debe estar lejos de otros dispositivos que

utilizan o producen ondas de radio.

¿Interferirá el casco inalámbrico JABRA con los equipos

electrónicos del auto, la radio o la computadora?

El casco inalámbrico JABRA produce significativamente menos

potencia que un teléfono móvil normal. También emite señales que se

ajustan al estándar internacional Bluetooth (www.bluetooth.com). Por

consiguiente, no debe esperarse ninguna interferencia con los equipos

electrónicos estándar para el consumidor.

¿Puede mi conversación ser escuchada por otros usuarios de

teléfonos Bluetooth?

Cuando se acopla el casco al teléfono Bluetooth, se está creando un

enlace privado entre estos dos dispositivos Bluetooth. No es fácil para

terceros monitorizar la tecnología inalámbrica Bluetooth utilizada en

el casco. Adicionalmente, las señales inalámbricas Bluetooth tienen

una potencia significativamente inferior a las señales producidas por

cualquier teléfono móvil. Por consiguiente, estas señales son mucho

más difíciles de detectar por parte de terceros.

¿Se puede reciclar la batería?

Sí. Las baterías de polímero-litio son reciclables. La normativa sobre

reciclaje varía de un sitio a otro así es que por favor deseche el casco

según corresponda.

¿Porqué no puedo hablar durante el mismo tiempo que antes?

Es posible que la batería haya excedido el número total de ciclos de

cargado indicado por el fabricante. Contáctese con atención al cliente

de JABRA o visite www.jabra.com/fscs para obtener más información.

¿Cómo le hago mantenimiento al FreeSpeak?

El casco requiere muy escaso mantenimiento.

1. Para limpiar el casco, utilice un paño suave, limpio y ligeramente

humedecido.

2. No exponga el FreeSpeak a temperaturas extremas, por ejemplo

guardándolo sobre el tablero de instrumentos de su vehículo.

Localización de averías

Aprender a usar un casco Bluetooth toma más tiempo que otros

cascos. Los beneficios son muchos una vez que lo sepa usar. A

continuación se describen algunos síntomas y soluciones muy útiles.

¿Qué sucede con la potencia de la radiofrecuencia?

El casco FreeSpeak produce una potencia de radio que es 1%

o menos de la generada por un teléfono móvil.

¿Puedo usar el FreeSpeak bajo la lluvia o en la ducha?

El FreeSpeak NO es un dispositivo impermeable. No use el casco

bajo la lluvia ni en la ducha. Podría dañar el producto si lo expone

al agua.

¿A qué se debe el sonido corto y agudo que escucho?

Los sonidos cortos y agudos provienen de diferentes fuentes.

Podrían ser parte del servicio / teléfono móvil para indicarle que

tiene una llamada en espera o que se está agotando la batería del

teléfono móvil.

También escuchará un sonido corto y agudo cuando se está

agotando la batería del casco JABRA. Dicho sonido se escuchará en

forma de una serie de tonos tal como se describe en la Explicación

de los indicadores del FreeSpeak.

Nada está funcionando. ¿Qué debo hacer?

¿Funcionará el FreeSpeak con computadoras portátiles,

El casco FreeSpeak funciona con todos los dispositivos que se

4. Chargez l'unité pendant environ deux heures, ou jusqu'à ce que

l'indicateur lumineux s'allume.

5. Vous pouvez à présent retirer le casque de communication de son

chargeur.

Dès que vous retirez le casque du support de chargement

(l'adaptateur de courant ca étant toujours branché), votre casque de

communication est automatiquement activé (en mode Attente). En

cas d'appel en arrivée alors que le casque se trouve dans le support

de chargement (l'adaptateur de courant ca étant toujours branché),

répondez à l'appel en retirant simplement le casque du support de

chargement.

Une charge complète permet un maximum de 3 heures de conversa-

tion, ou jusqu'à 96 heures d'autonomie en mode Attente. Il n'est pas

nécessaire d'épuiser complètement la pile du casque FreeSpeak

avant de la recharger. Le chargeur ne risque nullement de surcharger

la pile, même si vous le laissez branché au-delà de 3 heures.

IIndicateurs d’épuisement imminent de la pile : Le casque doit

être rechargé (étapes 1 à 5) lorsque vous entendez 3 tonalités

aiguës rapides émanant du haut-parleur du casque, à intervalles de

30 secondes, ou quand l'indicateur lumineux clignote rapidement

3 fois, toutes les 3 semaines. Au déclenchement des indicateurs

d'épuisement imminent de la pile, il vous reste approximativement

3 à 5 minutes de conversation.

ACTIVATION et DÉSACTIVATION du casque

de communication

Pour activer le casque FreeSpeak :

1. Retirez le casque de communication de son support de

chargement.

2. Appuyez et maintenez fermement le bouton pendant au

moins trois secondes, jusqu'à ce que le témoin lumineux émette

une série très brève de clignotements en rafale, et jusqu'à ce que

le haut-parleur produise une série rapide de bips, dans un ordre

de tonalités croissant.

Chargement de la pile et durée d'utilisation

Avant d'utiliser le système FreeSpeak, vous devez obligatoirement

placer le casque de communication dans son support de chargement

pour le charger complètement. (Le casque de communication peut

tout aussi bien être activé que désactivé.) Pour ce faire, insérez déli-

catement le casque FreeSpeak dans son support en le tenant sur les

côtés et en l'enfonçant avec un mouvement rotatif vers la gauche,

comme l'indique la série d'illustrations ci-dessous. Pour retirer le

casque, maintenez-le délicatement par les côtés et exercez une

traction tout en pivotant vers la droite, c'est-à-dire en effectuant la

série d'opérations illustrées ci-dessous dans l'ordre inverse.

Pour charger le système :

1. Branchez l'adaptateur d'alimentation en ca sur le support de

chargement.

2. Branchez le connecteur de l'adaptateur d'alimentation en ca sur

une prise électrique murale.

3. Lors du chargement, l'indicateur lumineux du casque s'allume. Il

reste allumé jusqu'à la fin du chargement. L'indicateur lumineux du

casque FreeSpeak s'allume uniquement si le casque est complète-

ment encliqueté dans le support de chargement. Si le voyant

Couplage avec un téléphone Bluetooth

Procédez comme suit pour coupler le casque FreeSpeak avec un

téléphone Bluetooth :

1. Vérifiez que le casque de communication FreeSpeak est bien

désactivé. (Voir la section ACTIVATION et DÉSACTIVATION du

casque de communication.)

2. Appuyez et maintenez le bouton pendant environ 7 secon-

des, jusqu'à ce que l'indicateur lumineux du casque s'allume sans

clignoter. (Vous remarquerez une série de quelques clignotements

rapides avant que l'indicateur reste continuellement allumé.)

3. Lorsque l'indicateur lumineux cesse de clignoter, relâchez le

bouton . L'indicateur lumineux reste allumé, indiquant que le

casque FreeSpeak est en mode de couplage, prêt à communiquer

avec un autre appareil Bluetooth à coupler.

4. Suivez les consignes d'utilisation du téléphone Bluetooth pour

entamer la procédure de couplage. Cette opération s'effectue

généralement par le biais d'un menu de configuration ou de

connexion dans lequel vous choisirez les options nécessaires

pour « découvrir » les appareils Bluetooth. L'établissement de

connexions peut prendre quelques secondes.

5. L'écran d'affichage de votre téléphone doit normalement indiquer

qu'il a décelé un casque de communication JABRA BT200 et vous

inviter à le coupler. Veuillez confirmer.

6. L'écran d'affichage du téléphone vous invite ensuite à entrer un

code ou un numéro d'identification personnel (PIN). Entrez une

séquence de quatre zéros : 0000.

7. Pour indiquer la réussite du couplage, l'indicateur lumineux du

casque clignote brièvement et rapidement avant de repasser au

clignotement habituel à intervalles de 3 secondes (mode Attente).

8. L'écran d'affichage du téléphone peut également vous inviter à

renommer le casque de communication. Si c'est le cas, nous vous

conseillons de valider le nom « JABRA BT200 » plutôt que de le

modifier.

9. Si l'indicateur lumineux du casque FreeSpeak cesse de clignoter, le

couplage a échoué. Dans ce cas, désactivez le casque FreeSpeak,

repassez à l'étape 1 et réessayez.

3. Relâchez immédiatement le bouton. Un témoin lumineux sur le

côté extérieur du casque FreeSpeak clignote à intervalles de trois

secondes pour confirmer que le casque est activé. Le casque de

communication est à présent en mode Attente, prêt à l'utilisation.

Dès que vous retirez le casque du support de chargement

(l'adaptateur de courant ca étant toujours branché), votre casque

de communication est automatiquement activé (en mode Attente).

Pour désactiver le casque de communication FreeSpeak :

1. Appuyez et maintenez fermement le bouton pendant au

moins trois secondes, jusqu'à ce que le témoin lumineux émette

une série très brève de clignotements en rafale, et jusqu'à ce que

le haut-parleur produise une série rapide de bips, dans un ordre

de tonalités décroissant.

2. Relâchez immédiatement le bouton. Le casque de communication

est à présent désactivé. Aucune activité de témoin lumineux n'est

visible dans cet état. Patientez pendant 5 secondes avant de réac-

tiver le casque.

Si vous rechargez le casque de communication à intervalles réguliers,

il n'est pas nécessaire de le désactiver après chaque usage – il suffit

de mettre fin à l'appel. Voir la section Mettre fin à un appel.

Présentation du concept de « couplage » Bluetooth

Si vous disposez d'un téléphone ou autre appareil Bluetooth, vous

devrez « coupler » cet appareil à votre casque de communication

avant d'utiliser ce dernier pour la première fois. On entend par

« couplage » la création d'un lien sans fil unique entre deux appareils

Bluetooth, éliminant ainsi la nécessité de réitérer la procédure de

couplage à l'avenir. La procédure de couplage varie selon l'appareil

avec lequel vous associez le casque FreeSpeak (consultez le Guide

utilisateur de l'appareil en question). La section suivante explique

comment coupler votre casque FreeSpeak à un téléphone de type

Bluetooth.

Pour mettre fin à un appel

Utilisez une des méthodes suivantes pour mettre fin à un appel :

•Pour mettre fin à un appel à partir du casque, appuyez sur le

bouton du casque.

•Mettez fin à l'appel à l'aide du pavé numérique du téléphone.

Quelle que soit la méthode utilisée, vous devez normalement entendre

une série de tonalités croissantes. L'indicateur lumineux du casque

doit également clignoter une fois toutes les trois secondes pour

confirmer que le casque de communication est en mode Attente et

que vous avez bien terminé l'appel.

Pour répondre à un appel

En mode Attente, le casque FreeSpeak vous permet de recevoir des

appels sans manipuler le combiné téléphonique. En cas d'appel en

arrivée, votre téléphone émet la sonnerie habituelle. Vous entendrez

également les sonneries en provenance du haut-parleur du casque

de communication. Lorsque vous entendez ces sonneries, répondez

à l'appel en arrivée en appuyant sur le bouton du casque

FreeSpeak et parlez normalement. En cas d'appel en arrivée alors

que le casque se trouve dans le support de chargement (l'adaptateur

de courant ca étant toujours branché), répondez à l'appel en retirant

simplement le casque du support de chargement.

Vous pouvez également répondre à l'appel à l'aide du pavé numérique

du téléphone. Dans ce cas, vous avez la possibilité de transférer

l'appel vers le casque en suivant les instructions de la section suivante.

Pour transférer un appel

Procédez comme suit pour transférer un appel du téléphone

au casque : appuyez brièvement sur le bouton du casque. Si le

casque est désactivé, il suffit de l'activer (voir section ACTIVATION et

DÉSACTIVATION du casque de communication).

Pour transférer un appel du casque vers le téléphone, désactivez le

casque (voir section ACTIVATION et DÉSACTIVATION du casque de

communication). Veuillez noter que certains téléphones exigent que

vous terminiez le transfert à l'aide du pavé numérique du téléphone.

64Composition d'appels

Vous portez le casque FreeSpeak (en mode Attente) ; il s'agit à

présent de composer un appel d'une des manières suivantes.

Composition d'appel à l'aide du pavé numérique du téléphone

1. Composez le numéro désiré sur le pavé numérique du téléphone.

2. Appuyez sur la touche « Send » du combiné – le téléphone

initialise l'appel et transfère automatiquement l'appel au casque de

communication.

Composition d'appel avec le casque de communication, à l'aide de

commandes vocales

Si votre téléphone permet la composition numérique par commande

vocale, rien n'empêche d'utiliser cette fonctionnalité avec le casque

FreeSpeak. Veuillez remarquer que la fonction de numérotation

vocale doit être activée sur votre téléphone, et vous devez avoir

préalablement mémorisé des libellés vocaux (noms et commandes).

1. Placez le casque sur l'oreille de votre choix.

2. Appuyez brièvement sur le bouton du casque.

3. Après la tonalité, prononcez le nom de la personne à appeler.

4. Le téléphone compose automatiquement le numéro approprié.

Les détails de l'appel doivent normalement s'afficher à l'écran du

combiné (selon le modèle du téléphone).

5. Après connexion, vous êtes prêt à communiquer de la manière

habituelle.

Conseil : Nous vous conseillons d'enregistrer les commandes et

libellés vocaux à l'aide du système FreeSpeak, pour « apprendre » au

téléphone à reconnaître les libellés vocaux émanant du microphone

FreeSpeak plutôt que de celui du téléphone. Consultez le site web

du fabricant du téléphone pour en savoir plus sur les méthodes

d'enregistrement les plus récentes et les problèmes connus.

66Appel en attente

Certains téléphones permettent d'accepter un autre appel en arrivée

(et de le mettre en attente) pendant que vous utilisez le casque

FreeSpeak. Cette fonctionnalité varie selon les prestataires de service

mobile et les modèles de téléphone. Si vous entendez habituellement

un bip, vous entendrez le même bip dans l'écouteur du casque. Si

votre service téléphonique supporte cette fonctionnalité, vous avez

l'option d'utiliser le pavé numérique du combiné ou le casque.

Si vous utilisez le pavé numérique du combiné (méthode

recommandée), vous pouvez alterner entre les appels en attente à

l'aide de la méthode standard spécifiée par le fabricant de votre

téléphone. Pour alterner entre les appels à l'aide du casque, appuyèz

brièvement, une seule fois, sur le bouton du casque FreeSpeak.

Tout comme avec les touches d'un téléphone traditionnel, vous

pouvez ensuite repasser à l'appel initial en appuyant brièvement, une

fois de plus, sur le bouton .

Autres informations utiles

Réglage du volume du casque de communication

Grâce à son amplificateur alimenté par pile, le casque FreeSpeak

offre un volume de haut-parleur plus élevé que celui de la plupart des

casques d'écoute. Le volume du haut-parleur se règle à l'aide de huit

niveaux sonores prédéfinis. Une indentation ovale identifie la partie

du bouton qui réduit le volume. Vous devez normalement entendre

les variations de volume à l'appui de la touche de contrôle du volume

de l'unité. Aux niveaux le plus fort et le plus bas, vous entendrez un

bip isolé indiquant les intensités minimale et maximale. Certaines

téléphones permettent en outre de contrôler le volume du casque

FreeSpeak à l'aide des touches du combiné proprement dit. Cette

caractéristique varie selon les fabricants.
