PA Ceiling Speaker
These instructions are intended for installers with
sufficient knowledge of 100 V technology for PA
applications. Please read the instructions carefully
prior to installation and keep them for later ref-
erence.
1 Applications
This speaker with EN 54-24 certification has been ap-
proved for voice alarm systems. In case of fire, the
closed housing (fire dome) will restrict the spread
of fire. Ball impact resistance in accordance with
DIN 18 032, part 3 has been confirmed. For operation
in 100 V systems, an audio transformer has been in-
tegrated.
Model EDL-224ABC is equipped with two full-
range speakers, each provided with a transformer.
These full-range speakers can be connected sepa-
rately. Therefore, this model is ideally suited for PA
systems with A / B wiring according to EN 60849.
2 Safety Notes
The speaker corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with .
•
The speaker is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
it against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity and heat (admissible ambient temperature
range 0 – 40 °C).
•
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
chemicals or water.
•
No guarantee claims for the speaker and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material dam-
age will be accepted if the speaker is used for other
purposes than originally intended, if it is not cor-
rectly installed or connected, or if it is overloaded.
If the speaker is to be put out of operation
definitively, dispose of the speaker in ac-
cordance with local regulations.
3 Installation
WARNING During operation, there is a hazard of
contact with a dangerous voltage of
up to 100 V at the connection cable.
Installation must be carried out by
skilled personnel only.
Observe the load of the amplifier by the speakers.
Overload may damage the amplifier! The total
power of all speakers connected must not exceed
the amplifier power.
1) Completely switch off the PA system before install-
ing the speaker so that the speaker cables will not
carry any voltage!
2) Saw a cutout of the corresponding size into the
ceiling (see specifications).
3) Unscrew the housing cover to gain access to the
connections.
4) Pull the connection cable through the cable inlet
of the housing cover and connect it to the terminal
block. Use the terminal with the white core and the
terminal with the coloured core corresponding to
the desired power rating (volume).

5) When connecting, make sure that all speakers have
the same polarity (e. g. white core = negative pole).
6) Close the housing.
7) Bend the three spring clips upwards and insert the
speaker into the ceiling cutout. The spring clips will
make sure that the speaker is held in place on the
celling.
CAUTION Risk of injury!
When the springs are under tension, always
hold them tightly!

ELA-Deckenlautsprecher
Diese Anleitung richtet sich an Installateure mit
Fachkenntnissen in der 100-V-Beschallungstech-
nik. Bitte lesen Sie die Anleitung vor der Instal-
lation gründlich durch und heben Sie sie für ein
späteres Nachlesen auf.
1 Verwendungsmöglichkeiten
Der Lautsprecher mit Zertifizierung nach EN 54-24 ist
für den Einsatz in Sprachalarmierungsanlagen zugelas-
sen. Das ge schlossene Gehäuse (Feuertopf) erschwert
im Brandfall eine Ausbreitung des Feuers. Die Ball-
wurfsicherheit nach DIN 18 032, Teil3 wurde bestätigt.
Für den Betrieb in 100-V-Anlagen ist ein Audiotrans-
formator vorgeschaltet.
Das Modell EDL-224ABC verfügt über zwei ein-
zeln anschließbare Breitbandlautsprecher mit je einem
Übertrager und eignet sich darum für ELA-Anlagen mit
A / B-Verkabelung nach EN 60849.
2 Sicherheitshinweise
Der Lautsprecher entspricht allen relevanten Richt-
linien der EU und trägt deshalb das Zeichen.
•
Der Lautsprecher ist nur zur Verwendung im Innen-
bereich geeignet. Schützen Sie ihn vor Tropf- und
Spritzwasser, hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit und Hitze (zu-
lässiger Einsatztemperaturbereich 0 – 40 °C).
•
Verwenden Sie für die Reinigung nur ein trockenes,
weiches Tuch, auf keinen Fall Chemikalien oder
Wasser.
•
Wird der Lautsprecher zweckentfremdet, nicht
fachgerecht montiert, falsch angeschlossen oder
überlastet, kann keine Haftung für daraus resultie-
rende Sach- oder Personenschäden und keine Ga-
rantie für den Lautsprecher übernommen werden.
Soll der Lautsprecher endgültig aus dem
Betrieb genommen werden, entsorgen Sie
ihn gemäß den örtlichen Vor schriften.
3 Installation
WARNUNG Im Betrieb liegt berührungsgefährli-
che Spannung bis 100 V an der An-
schlussleitung an. Die Installation darf
nur durch Fachpersonal erfolgen.
Achten Sie auf die Belastung des ELA-Verstärkers
durch die Lautsprecher. Eine Überlastung kann den
Verstärker beschädigen! Die Summe der Leistungen
aller angeschlossenen Lautsprecher darf die Verstär-
kerleistung nicht überschreiten.
1) Vor der Installation des Lautsprechers die ELA-
Anlage komplett ausschalten, damit die Lautspre-
cherleitungen spannungsfrei sind!
2) In die Decke ein entsprechend großes Loch sägen
(siehe Technische Daten).
3) -Den Gehäusedeckel abschrauben, sodass die An
schlüsse zugängig sind.
4) Das Anschlusskabel durch die Kabeldurchführung
des Gehäuses ziehen und mit dem Klemmenblock
verbinden: Die Klemme mit der weißen Ader und
die Klemme der farbigen Ader, die der gewünschten
Nennbelastung (Lautstärke) entspricht, verwenden.

Bei dem Modell EDL-224ABC die beiden Lautspre-
cher separat anschließen.
5) -Beim Anschluss darauf achten, dass die Lautspre
cher alle gleich gepolt werden (z. B. weiße Ader =
Minuspol).
6) Das Gehäuse wieder schließen.
7) Die drei Klemmfedern nach oben biegen und den
Lautsprecher in die Deckenöffnung einsetzen, so-
dass die Federn den Lautsprecher an der Decke
festklemmen.
VORSICHT Verletzungsgefahr!
Halten Sie die gespannten Federn gut fest!
