Pitching the tent
1. Before setting up the tent, find a spot as flat as possible where no
puddles are likely to form if it rains. Remove any stones, twigs or
other sharp objects to prevent the ground sheet from getting
damaged.
2. Fit the poles together making sure that the bushes disappear into
the sleeves completely, otherwise you may damage the tent fabric.
3. Lay the outer tent out - with closed zippers- so that the pole
sleeves are straight.
4. Carefully slide the poles into the sleeves. The long poles go into the
two front sleeves and the shorter pole (with black end) into the rear
sleeve (also check the colour coding to find the right sleeve).
5. Loosen the strap on the ring and pin system as much as possible.
Position one end of the pole onto the pin and bend the other end
until you can poke the other pin into the pole as well.
6. Do the same for all the tent poles; starting on one side and
working towards the other.
7. Stand the tent up and peg down the two corners on one side.
8. Make sure that all three poles are in line with each other; even
tension is then easier to achieve.
9. Now peg down the other corners.
10. Peg down the rest of the tent and tighten the ropes.
11. Hang the inner tent in the outer tent, if it is not already in
position. Start at the back and work forwards.
12. Lastly, tighten the adjustment straps at the end of the poles.
Taking the tent down
1. If you have to take the tent down in the rain, first take the inner
tent out. This, at least, can then be kept dry. If you want to take
the tent down quickly and easily, leave the inner tent hanging in
the outer tent.
2. Then zip out the ground sheet.
3. To prolong the life of the zips, we advise you to always put the
tent up and take it down with the zips closed.
4. Pull the pegs out of the ground.
5. Push the poles out of the pole sleeves (i.e. do not pull).
6. Remove as much sand and dirt as possible from the tent, the poles
and the pegs.
7. Fold the tent up so that it fits in the bag, making sure that the
tent does not get caught in the zip of the bag.

Maintenance
- In general the tent will not need additional seam sealing but to be absolutely sure, the points where
the loops are stitched on can be tipped with Nomad seam sealer. Always apply seam seal on the
inside of the outer fly.
- When in use, clean your tent at least once every two weeks.
- To clean your tent, rub softly with a soft brush or cloth and lukewarm water. Do not use any
detergents; these will corode the water repellence.
- A wet tent should never remain packed for longer than 24 hours otherwise the cloth could start to
decay.
- Prevent getting resin on the tent fabric, as this cannot be cleaned. Bird excrements should be
removes as soon as possible with luke warm water and a soft cloth.
- Broken or damaged tent poles can be temporarily repaired with the repair sheath supplied. Slide the
sheath over the broken section and fix in place either with tape or by flattening the ends of the
sheath with a pair of pliers. You can easily buy a replacement for the broken section of tent pole
from your local dealer.
- Do not pitch your tent for lengthy periods in full sunshine. The UV rays will damage the coating
(if applicable) and colour, which will shorten the life of the material.
Tips
- Always pitch a tunnel tent with either the head or tail into the wind. Do not pitch the tent too
close to or under trees and bushes, always keep a safe distance.
- Secure the tent well with guys if strong winds are expected.
- Ventilation is extremely important with lightweight tents. All Nomad tents have sufficient means of
ventilation. Air the tent regularly to prevent the tent cloth from suffocating and condensation
forming inside the tent.
- The pegs supplied are suitable for grass. If you plan to pitch your tent on any other ground, we
advise you to use pegs intended specifically for that particular ground.
- Before you actually start out on your journey it’s a good idea to erect the tent at least once at
home, to get acquainted with it and to check that it is complete. Please take the inner tent out of
the outer tent when you pitch it for the first time. After pitching it for the first time, you may leave
the inner tent in the outer tent.
- If you would like to use an extra ground sheet for additional protection, do not use a sheet that
contains any softeners, as these corrode the other groundsheet. It may not be fully waterproof
either, as this way any surplus water cannot drain off.
- Using a zip-in groundsheets offers many advantages like less draft and water / dirt inside the tent.
As it also limits the ventilation, we advise you to open all ventilation panels to prevent water of
condensation as much as possible.
- Do not use any deodorants, hair sprays, etc. inside the tent. Their gas corrode the water reppelence.
Fire precautions
Warning: keep all flame and heat sources away from this tent fabric. The fabric will burn if left near
any flame source. The following precautions should be followed when camping:
- Never use candles, matches or open flames of any kind in or near a tent.
- Cooking inside the tent is dangerous.
- Build campfires downwind and several meters away from the tent. Always be sure to fully extinguish
campfires before leaving camp or before retiring for the night.
- Practice extreme caution when using fuel-powered lanterns and heaters inside the tent.
Use battery-operated equipment whenever possible.
- Never refuel lamps, heaters or stoves inside the tent.
- Extinguish or turn off all lanterns before going to sleep.
- Avoid smoking in the tent.
- Never store flammable liquids inside the tent.
