22. CAUTION: If the power cord of the device is equipped with an earthing contact, then it must be
connected to an outlet with a protective ground. Never deactivate the protective ground of a
power cord.
23. If the equipment has been exposed to strong fluctuations in temperature (for example, after
transport), do not switch it on immediately. Moisture and condensation could damage the equip-
ment. Do not switch on the equipment until it has reached room temperature.
24. Before connecting the equipment to the power outlet, first verify that the mains voltage and
frequency match the values specified on the equipment. If the equipment has a voltage selection
switch, connect the equipment to the power outlet only if the equipment values and the mains
power values match. If the included power cord or power adapter does not fit in your wall outlet,
contact your electrician.
25. Do not step on the power cord. Make certain that the power cable does not become kinked,
especially at the mains outlet and/or power adapter and the equipment connector.
26. When connecting the equipment, make certain that the power cord or power adapter is always
freely accessible. Always disconnect the equipment from the power supply if the equipment

ENVIRONMENTAL pROTEcTION AND ENERGY cONSERVATION
Energy conservation is an active contribution to environmental protection. Please turn off all unneeded elec-
trical devices. To prevent unneeded devices from consuming power in standby mode, disconnect the mains
plug.
ScOpE OF AppLIcATION
A DI box (DI stands for direct injection) is used to feed the electronic signal of a musical instrument
directly into the microphone input of a mixing console or into a stagebox, thus avoiding any detours
due to acoustic conversion (speaker/microphone). In addition to adjusting the volume level, the DI
box ensures that the input signal is converted and balanced at low impedance. Thus, the signal is
less susceptible to noise interference and cable losses. All Palmer DI boxes also allow for galvanic
isolation between input and output, since they use an audio transmitter. However, you should not use
a passive DI box to electrically isolated line signals, because considerable losses in signal level will
occur for technical reasons. For this application, it is better to use a line isolation box (e.g., Palmer
PLI01, PLI 02, PLI03, PLI05, PLI06 etc.).
uSER INTERFAcE
cONNEcTORS
Using shielded mono jack cables, connect the unbalanced output of the musical instrument to the input
of the PAN01. The second jack socket, labelled Thru, permits looping of the original signal, e.g.in order
to connect to an amplifier on stage. Using a shielded microphone cable, connect the stagebox/micro-
phone input of the mixer to the XLR/m socket, labelled Balanced Out.
ATTENuATOR
This switch permits attenuation of high input signals by 30 dB. For all signals up to +6 dBu (line level),
use the 0 db position of the attenuator. If you want to send a speaker signal, i.e. position the DI box
between the amplifier and the speaker box, use the -30 db switch position. Generally speaking, you
should set the attenuator so that a reasonable level results at the microphone input.
GROuND LIFT SwITch
As mentioned above, the design of the PAN01 effects a galvanic isolation between input and output.
(Galvanic separation means that there is no electrically conductive connection. The coupling of the
signals in the transmitter is based on magnetic induction). The galvanic isolation suppresses ground
loop hum that results due to double grounding (e.g., instrument grounded via the power plug and mixer
grounded). In the simplest case, the ground lift switch should be operated by ear. As a rule of thumb, for
devices that are grounded via their power supply, the switch should be placed in the LIFT position and
for battery powered instruments, the GND position should be used.
