1.3 Installation and cooling

The un it can become hot d epending on the demanded output

power or en vironmental temperature. The refore, it is import-

ant, that the cooling air can fl ow unhin dered into the air inlets

in the bottom and flow out through the holes in the rear panel .

Set up the power amplifi ers so that there is at least 10 cm

distan ce around the dev ice to adjacent components or wa lls.

When pla cing the amp lifier on a carpe t, make su re tha t th e

feet of the unit do not sink in (if ne cessary, underl ay pucks)

and that the ca rpet pile does not seal the air slots in the floor.

Direct exposure to sunli ght is not recommended because this

will he at up th e un it and may cause unwanted malf un cti ons.

ℹ NOTE

The insta lled transfor mers emit magn etic stray fi elds . To

prevent i nter ference, it is recomm ended to not place t he

unit(s ) either directly on or near a preamplifi er or a record

play er.

ℹ CAUTION

Heat sensitive objec ts su ch as candles, pl as ti cs , records or

CD’s may also be damaged b y the g enerated hea t of the MA /

SA 8.3. Great care s houl d also be taken to ens ur e smal l chil-

dren do not burn th emsel ves by accidentally touchi ng the

amplifier(s). The housing does not feel ext remely hot to

adu lts but small ch ildren genera lly react more sensitively.

1.4 Connection to mains

Connect the supplied mains cable to the powe r soc ket (15)

and plug it into a Schuko socket.

ℹ NOTE

Keep the u nit(s) swi tc hed off unt il all audi o conn ection s are

made. Also, keep your loudspeakers discon nected when swit-

ching the unit on for the first time. If the dev ice is sti ll cold

after unpackin g from transpor t, p lace it i n y our l is tening

room for about one hour without a m ains conn ection s o that

it can adapt to the room t emperature.

ℹ CAUTION: I mpor tant info rm ation on elec trical s afety

Depending on the conn ected lou ds peaker and the requ ired

out pu t pow er, t he po wer amplifi ers can ta ke up to 3500 watts

from the m ains. Th e power co ns um ption can b e up to 16

amps. Therefo re, st andard m ains cabl es (m aximum curren t

10 Ampère) cannot be us ed. The supplied p ower cord is

designed for up to 16 amperes. I f y ou wish to replace the

mains cable with an other cable, pleas e note that i t is appro-

ved for at least 16 amp eres and has a suitable coup lin g on

the device side (IEC -60320 C19).

Connect each out put stage to a separate socket. Do not use

power di stribution strips, as those are not des igned for t he

high currents required in total.

If the power am pli fier s are i n standby m ode, th ey are not

completely disconnected from the mains . To protect your

device from d amag e, unplug the device du ring a thunders-

torm or when you are a way for a longer peri od of ti me or

switch off the device with the mains switch (8).

1.5 First star t-up

ℹ NOTE

If your power amplifi ers are s till cold after u npacking due to a

previous transpor t, place them in your listening room for at

least one hour without ma ins connection so that they can

adapt to the room temperature. Otherwise , condensati on

could damage or destroy the unit.

Do not connect any loudspeakers during the initial star t- up.

Tu rn on the power switch (8). While the AVM logo appear s in

the display (3), the amplifier performs a self-te st and swit-

che s to standby m ode after a few seconds. The power LED ( 2)

lights up.
