OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance is intended for household use
only. Use on Alternating Current (60 hertz) only.
Standard hot air stylers are designed to operate
at 110 to 125 volts AC.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade
is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this
plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse
the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a quali-
fied electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this
safety feature.
NOTE: Do not use this styling appliance on
hair extensions.
CHECK ALCI SAFETY FEATURE EVERY TIME
YOU USE APPLIANCE.
This appliance is equipped with an Appliance
Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ALCI), a safety
feature that renders it inoperable under some
abnormal conditions, such as immersion in
water. To make sure the ALCI is functioning
properly, perform the following test. The
purpose of this test is to allow you to make sure
the water sensing system (ALCI) is working.
1. Plug in the appliance and press test button
on plug (see diagram).
2. The appliance will stop working. There will be
an audible click and reset
button will pop out. This
indicates the ALCI is func-
tioning properly.
3. To reset ALCI with a
reset button, unit should
be unplugged. Then push
Reset
Test
reset button in and reinsert plug into outlet.
4. If ALCI is not functioning properly, return
appliance to service center.
5. It is important that if immersion occurs, this
unit be brought to a service center. Do not try
to reset.
6. Be sure to repeat test every time you use the
unit to confirm ALCI is operational.
Should the appliance go off and the reset
button pop up during use, this could indicate a
malfunction in the unit. Remove plug from outlet
and allow the appliance to cool. Reinsert plug
into outlet.
The appliance should then function normally.
If not, return it to an authorized Conair Service
Center for evaluation and repair.
TOURMALINE CERAMIC
TECHNOLOGY
The hot air styler has tourmaline ceramic heat,
eliminating damaging hot spots for beautiful,
frizz-free shine.
THE IONIZING FUNCTION
Generates negative ions to:
neutralize the generally positive charge on
flyaway, frizzy hair
eliminate static electricity
contribute to shine
NOTE: The unit may produce a clicking
sound at times, which is normal for a
high output ion generator.
GETTING STARTED
Hair should be clean and completely dry before
using the styler. Make sure your desired
attachmment is locked into place. Plug styler
into outlet. Slide switch to turn appliance ON
and OFF.

TO SWITCH BRUSH ATTACHMENTS
Press side buttons at the same time to release
attachment head. Remove attachment. Place
brush on handle and lock into place.
3 HEAT/SPEED SETTINGS
Low Setting: This position combines ideal
airflow and temperature setting for shaping
finer, damaged or treated hair.
High Setting: Combines ideal airflow with higher
temperature, for pre-drying, and styling thick
hair.
Cool Setting: Using the cool setting at the end
sets the style for a long-lasting effect. The
rotation/spin function is not needed for cool
setting, so that style can easily be set.
ROTATION SETTINGS
There are two rotation speed settings. To make
the round brush head rotate, press the buttons
marked << and >>. These will make the brush
head rotate clockwise and counterclockwise.
The rotation can be used on the low and high
settings. When the appliance is used on the cool
setting, the brush head will not rotate. For best
results, use the rotating brush feature to create
styles with gorgeous volume and shine. You can
also use the hot air styler without the rotation
function.
NOTE: The rotation function only works
with the round brush attachment.
PROTECTIVE COVER
After every use, always ensure that the protec-
tive shield is placed over the round brush head.
This protects the bristles and prevents them
from being damaged.

TO STYLE HAIR
If you have long or thick hair, you may find it
quicker and easier to use a hair dryer first to dry
your hair and remove the excess moisture. For
added volume, turn your head upside down as
you dry.
Once the hair is 80% dry, you should start to
create your style using your styler.
TO STRAIGHTEN HAIR
1. Start by sectioning the hair. Be sure to comb
through hair to detangle.
2. Place the appliance with paddle attachment into
the hair, close to the roots, and brush through the
section.
3. For added root lift and volume: Place the heated
brush underneath the hair section close to the
roots with the bristles pointing upward. Use your
other hand to pull the hair section taut against the
heated plate until the bristles penetrate through
the hair.
TO CURL HAIR
1. Move the brush through the hair toward the
ends, and as you reach the end of the section,
start to rotate the brush away from your head by
pressing and holding the appropriate rotate button.
2. As you do this, resist the rotation of the brush
by pulling the brush downward. Tension created
through the section of hair will help to smooth hair
faster.
IMPORTANT! It may take several attempts to
perfect this technique. If the brush spins too
quickly, simply release the rotation button and
remove styler from the hair.
3. For added root lift: Hold the brush in place at the
roots for a few seconds.
4. For even more volume, allow the brush to rotate,
winding the section of hair around the barrel.
Release the rotate button and then leave the brush
in the hair for a few seconds. Use cool setting to
set style.
5. To release the section, press and hold the
opposite rotation button to unwind the hair section.
6. Repeat as necessary.
7. For less volume, you can follow the same steps
and use without the spin function.
8. After use, switch off and unplug the appliance.
9. Allow to cool before storing.
10. Place protective shield over round brush head
to protect the bristles.
HELPFUL HINTS
• To defi ne layers and give shape to styles, follow
step 4 and repeat through section.
• To get root volume and body through the top
section of hair, follow steps 3 to 6, but using
an upward motion.
• You can create fl ips or tuck hair under. Also
perfect for shaping bangs.

IMPORTANT
Never immerse this product in water
or any other liquids.
IF YOU MUST USE YOUR HOT AIR STYLER IN
THE BATHROOM, INSTALL A GFCI* NOW!
Your local electrician can help you decide which
type is best for you – a portable unit that plugs into
the electrical outlet or a permanent unit installed
by your electrician. The National Electrical Code
now requires GFCIs in the bathrooms, garages, and
outdoor outlets of all new homes.
WHY DO YOU NEED A GFCI? Electricity and
water don’t mix. If your hot air styler falls in water
while its plugged in, the electric shock can kill
you... even if the switch is off.
A regular fuse or circuit breaker
won’t protect you under these
circumstances. A GFCI offers you
far greater protection.
A GFCI can save your life! Compared to that,
the price is small! Don’t wait... install one now!
* GFCI is a sensitive device that reacts immediately
to a small electric current leak by stopping the
electricity ow.
CLEANING &
MAINTENANCE
• Unplug the appliance and let cool completely
before cleaning it.
• Use a damp cloth to clean carefully. Make sure
the appliance is completely dry before using again.
• The rear filter should be cleaned on a regular
basis using a soft brush to help prevent buildup and
overheating. This will also prolong the motor life.
USER MAINTENANCE
Your hot air styler is virtually maintenance free.
No lubrication is needed. For proper operating
performance, the hot air styler must be kept clean.
When cleaning is needed, unplug the cord, allow to
cool and clean dust and lint from air intake open-
ings with a small brush or the brush attachment
of a vacuum cleaner. The outer surface of the hot
air styler should be wiped clean with a cloth only.
Blocked or clogged air intake vents will cause
the hot air styler to overheat. If overheating
occurs, an automatic safety device will shut the
hot air styler or the heat off to prevent damage
or personal injury. If the unit or the heat turns off,
unplug the cord and allow the hot air styler to cool
for 10 to 15 minutes before restarting. Make sure
the air vents are clean.
CAUTION
NEVER allow the power supply cord to be pulled,
twisted, or severely bent. Never wrap the cord
tightly around the hot air styler. Damage will occur
at the high fl ex point of entry into the hot air styler,
causing it to rupture and short. Inspect the cord
frequently for damage. Stop use immediately if
damage is visible or unit stops or operates
intermittently.
If the cord or hot air styler is damaged or does not
operate properly, return it for repair to an authorized
Conair service representative only. No repairs
should be attempted by the consumer.
STORAGE – IMPORTANT
When not in use, your hot air styler should be
disconnected, allowed to cool and stored in a safe,
dry location, out of reach of children. Do not wrap
line cord around hot air styler. Allow the cord to
hang or lie loose and straight at the point of entry
into the hot air styler.
