Product description
Theresidual current device’s main function is to protect people and
property if insulation failure should occur in electrical equipment.
Theresidual current device is agood complementary protection to
other safety precautions measures such as fuses and earthing.
This residual current device is anon-latching type which means that
it has ano-volt release switch which has to be reset manually after
apowercut.
For plugging directly into anearthed wall socket.
Trips at 30 mA fault current (mA = one thousandth of anampere).
Equipped with test button and indicator.
Protection class IP44 (32-3492 only).
Safety
Make sure that theelectrical socket that theproduct is plugged
into is easily accessible in case it and theconnected product need
to be quickly disconnected from themains electricity.
Do not connect products of this type to each other.
Do not cover theproduct.
Operation
Residual current device
RCDs operate by measuring thecurrent balance between thelive
and neutral conductor in acircuit. Whenacircuit operates normally,
thesupply and return currents are in balance and sum to zero. Ifthere
is afault in thecircuit (suchas dangerous current leakage through
thebody of aperson to earth), thecurrent will be out of balance and
theRCD will trip and cut off thesupply of current.
Theoperation of theRCD should be checked regularly using thetest
button.
No-volt release switch
Thebuilt-in no-volt release switch prevents theconnected electrical
device (drill, lathe, etc.) from starting again automatically after apower
cut. Theno-volt release switch must be reset by pushing the[ RESET ]
button twice after apower outage before it will allow current to
flowagain.
Use
Theresidual current device is designed to be plugged into anearthed
wall socket.
Plug theRCD into anelectrical socket and press [ RESET ]
twice in order to reset theno-voltage release switch inside before
theRCD’s socket is energized. Asmall orange dot can be seen in
theindication window above the[ RESET ] button when theRCD’s
socket is energized.
Note: Onlyplug theresidual current device into sockets where it can
be inserted with the[ RESET ] button located above thesocket. (Only
applies to theNordic countries)
Testing the RCD
1. Before theresidual current device is used it must be tested by
pushing the[ TEST ] button.
2. Theorange dot in theindication window above the[ RESET ]
button disappears when theRCD trips and cuts off thecurrent to
thesocket.
3. Reset theRCD by pressing the[ RESET ] button twice. Theorange
dot in theindicator window should be visible when theRCD has
been reset and conducts current to thesocket again.
Note: Thetest button only works when theRCD is plugged into alive
electrical socket.
Responsible disposal
This symbol indicates that this product should not
be disposed of with general household waste. This
applies throughout theentire EU. In order to prevent
