Do not strike the outer rim of the head on the PDQ-8.

pad mount.

Recommended parameter settings
These are the recommended settings for the trigger
parameters when using the PDQ-8S/PDQ-8 with dierent
drum sound modules.
When the PAD TYPE or TRIG TYPE parameter for the drum
sound module you’re using has “PDQ-8S” or “PDQ-8” as
a selectable option, set these parameters to “PDQ-8S” or
“PDQ-8”.
If “PDQ-8S” or “PDQ-8” are not available, see the support
information on the Roland website.
https://roland.cm/trigger_prm
You may need to adjust the trigger parameters depending
on the usage environment, such as how youve installed the
PDQ-8S/PDQ-8 or the position in which it is set up.
Refer to the Owner’s Manual of the respective drum sound
module for how to congure this.
When using the PDQ-8S
When you are using this unit in cold temperatures (10ºC or
lower), the sensors may not be able to correctly detect the
dierence between head shots and rim shots. In this case,
adjust the “H/R Adjust setting on the drum sound module.
Adjusting the head tension
If the head is sagging and you hear unusual noises besides
the sound of striking the pad, you should adjust the head
tension.
* Tighten the head so that the tension is rather rm. The
instrument may malfunction or you may hear unusual
noises if the head tension is too loose.
* Use a hex wrench for this adjustment.
1. Adjust each tuning bolt little by little,
working back and forth across the head in
the order shown in the illustration.

4 6
2 1
* Do not rmly tighten a single tuning bolt by itself. Doing
so makes it impossible to tension the head evenly, and
could cause faulty operation or malfunctions.
2. Adjust the tightness of each tuning bolt so
that the head is tensioned evenly.
Adjust each tuning bolt so that the outermost edge of
the head and the inner edge of the frame are the same
height.

Replacing the head
The head is a consumable part, and its performance declines
over time with use.
If the head becomes torn, or if the surface of the head sags
even when the head tension is correctly adjusted, replace the
head.
To replace the head, contact either the dealer where you
purchased this product, or Roland Support.

The performance techniques dier for the respective drum
