SUBMINIATURE OMNIDIRECTIONAL CONDENSER CLIP-ON MICROPHONE
- Maximum intelligibility and clean, accurate reproduction for lecturers,
stage and television talent, and worship leaders.
- Low-prole design is ideal for applications requiring minimum visibility.
- Includes a wire clothing clip and a metal-frame pop lter.
- MT838IIa is switchable for low-frequency roll-off reduces sensitivity to
popping in close vocal use.
- MT838IIa can be operated on battery or phantom power.
- MT838IIcW is terminated for use with all Audio-Technica UniPak™
wireless systems.
The MT838IIa / MT838IIcW is worn on the clothing of performers
for excellent yet unobtrusive sound pickup. Its small size makes the
microphone ideal for use in applications where minimum visibility
is required. Clo se-up voice pickup i s crisp and cle an, and t he
omnidirectional polar pattern of the microphone assures nearly equal
sound pickup from every direction across a wide band frequencies.
The included clothing clip and metal-frame pop filter are removable.
When using the MT838IIa / MT838IIcW in extremely close situations, slip
the included metal-frame pop lter over the mic to reduce wind noise or
“poping”.
MT838IIa
Includes a power module AT8531 that requires 11V to 52V DC phantom
power, or a 1.5V AA battery for operation. A battery need not be in place
for phantom power operation.
An integral 80Hz high-pass filter provides easy switching from a flat
frequency response to a low-end roll-off. The roll-off position reduces
the pickup of low-frequency ambient noise (such as trafc, air-handling
systems, etc.), room reverberation and mechanically coupled vibrations.
Output from the power module’s XLRM-type connector is low impedance
(Lo-Z) balanced. The signal appears across Pins 2 and 3; Pin 1 is ground
(shield). Output phase is Pin 2 hot” - positive acoustic pressure produces
positive voltage at Pin 2. To avoid phase cancellation and poor sound, all
mic cables must be wired consistently: Pin 1-to-Pin 1, etc.
MT838IIcW
Less power module and includes clothing clip and metal-frame pop lter
only. 1.8 m cable terminated with locking 4-pin connector for Audio-
Technica UniPak body-pack wireless transmitters.
Avoid leaving the microphone i n the open sun or in areas where
temperatures exceed 4C for extended periods. Extremely high humidity
should also be avoided.
