Please note
You must plug your
BT Decor 1500 into
a microfilter if you
have broadband

Removing the base plinth (optional)
Your BT Decor 1500 will come with the base plinth
already attached. If you want to use your BT Decor 1500
on a flat surface such as a table or desk then we advise
you to leave the plinth attached.
If you want to remove the base plinth, turn the plinth
lock switch on the underside of the phone to the ‘unlock’
position and unclip.
Setting the day and time
You will need to set the correct day and time so that you
will know when each answering machine message was
recorded.
1. Press and hold the button, the current day setting
is announced.
2. Keep holding the button and press or to
hear the days. When the correct day is announced,
release the button. An announcement will confirm
the day is set.
3. Press and hold the button, the current hour setting
is announced.
4. Keep holding the button and press or to
hear the hours. When the correct hour is announced,

If you prefer to wall-mount your BT
Decor 1500, please refer to the
instructions shown on page 22.
The pre-set day and time are
Saturday 12:01am. When you
connect the power, the clock will
start running from this time.
Your BT Decor 1500 uses the
12-hour clock.

days one at a time or, press and
hold either button for quick
scrolling.

When setting the hour ‘am’ or ‘pm’
will be announced, as appropriate.
12:00pm will be announced as
“Twelve middayand 12:00am will
be announced as “Twelve midnight”.
If a setting is correct, you can
release the button without

5. Press and hold the button, the current minute setting
is announced.
6. Keep holding the button and press or to
hear the minutes. When the correct minute is
announced, release the button.
The newly set day and time are announced.

Displays the number of messages received.
When the handset is off-hook, the message counter will display ‘H’.
Make and end a call
1. Lift the handset and wait for the dial tone.
2. Dial the telephone number.
3. Replace the handset to end the call.
Last number redial
1. Press . The last number called will be dialled
out automatically.
Switch secrecy on and off
1. During a call, press and release the button.
The button will illuminate to show that secrecy is on.
The Secrecy feature is now in use. You can now talk to
someone in the room without your caller hearing you.
However, you will still be able to hear your caller.
2. Press and release the button again to return to
your caller. The secrecy light will go out.
Adjust the earpiece volume
With the handset at your ear, press the or
to increase or decrease the earpiece volume.

If the ringer is set to OFF, the call
light will still flash to indicate when
someone is calling you. Default
setting is high (Hi).
Adjust the ringer volume
Turn the phone over and move the Ringer Vol. Switch to
the volume you want: Hi, Lo or Off.
Set the ringer melody
Turn the phone over and move the to theRinger Switch
position you want: R1, R2 or R3.
Set the dial mode
Turn the phone over and move the to theMode Switch
position you want: P, TE or TB.

There are 3 ringer melodies to
choose from.
The default melody is R1.
There are 3 dial mode settings.
Tone/Timed break (TB), Tone/Earth
(TE) and Pulse/Earth (P). The
default setting is Tone/Timed
break (TB).
You should only have to change
this setting if connected to a
switchboard that requires Pulse
dialling or Earth recall.
You can store 10 of your most used telephone numbers
in your BT Decor 1500’s quickdial memory, to save
looking up and entering the numbers each time you want
to make a call.
To store a quickdial memory number
1. Lift the handset.
2. Press the button. The secrecy light will flash.
3. Using the keypad, enter a memory location number
between 0 and 9 under which you want to store
the number.
4. Enter the telephone number you want to store including
the area code. Quickdial numbers can be up to 18 digits
long.
5. Press the button. You will hear a confirmation tone.
6. Replace the handset.

If you are storing a long telephone
number slowly, you may hear the
message,“Please replace the handset
and try again”, through the handset.
Please ignore this message and
continue to enter the telephone
number before proceeding to steps
5 and 6.
To edit a stored number
Follow the storing procedure
entering the correct telephone
number and this will overwrite the
existing stored number.
Storing a pause
Press at the point in the
dialling sequence where a pause
is required.
Redial
Memory card
The memory card (located on the
underside of the handset) can be
used to keep a record of your
quickdial memory numbers. Lift up
the plastic cover and you can write
on the card.
