SQ-1 Bedienungsanleitung
Vielen Dank, dass Sie si für den Kauf eines SQ-1 Step Sequenzers
von Korg entsieden haben. Um das Beste aus Ihrem neuen
Instrument herauszuholen, sollten Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung
sorgfältig durlesen.
Vorsichtsmaßnahmen
Aufstellungsort
Vermeiden Sie das Aufstellen des Geräts an Orten, an denen.
• es direkter Sonneneinstrahlung ausgesetzt ist;
•
hohe Feutigkeit oder Extremtemperaturen aureten können;
• Staub oder Smutz in großen Mengen vorhanden sind;
• das Gerät Ersüerungen ausgesetzt sein kann.

Stromversorgung
Stellen Sie den Netzsalter auf OFF, wenn das Gerät nit
benutzt wird. Wenn Sie das Gerät über einen längeren Zeitraum
nit benutzen, nehmen Sie die Baerien heraus, damit sie nit
auslaufen.
Störeinüsse auf andere Elektrogeräte
Dieser kann bei in der Nähe aufgestellten Rund-funkempfängern
oder Fernsehgeräten Empfangsstörungen hervorrufen. Betreiben
Sie sole Geräte nur in einem geeigneten Abstand von diesem
Erzeugnis.
Bedienung
Vermeiden Sie bei der Bedienung von Saltern und Reglern
unangemessenen Kraaufwand.
Reinigung
Bei auretender Versmutzung können Sie das Gehäuse mit
einem troenen, sauberen Tu abwisen. Verwenden Sie
keinerlei Flüssigreiniger wie beispielsweise Reinigungsbenzin,
Verdünnungs- oder Spülmiel. Verwenden Sie niemals brennbare
Reiniger.

Flüssigkeiten und Fremdkörper
Stellen Sie niemals Behältnisse mit Flüssigkeiten in der Nähe
des Geräts auf. Wenn Flüssigkeit in das Gerät gelangt, können
Besädigung des Geräts, Feuer oder ein elek-triser Slag
die Folge sein. Beaten Sie, daß keinerlei Fremdkörper in das
Gerät gelangen.

auf Ihrem Produkt, der dazugehörigen Bedienungsanleitung,

you get the most out of your new instrument, please read this
manual carefully.
Precautions
Location
Using the unit in the following locations can result in a
malfunction.
• In direct sunlight
• Locations of extreme temperature or humidity
• Excessively dusty or dirty locations
• Locations of excessive vibration
• Close to magnetic elds
Power supply
Be sure to turn the power switch to OFF when the unit is not in
use. Remove the baery in order to prevent it from leaking when
the unit is not in use for extended periods.
Interference with other electrical devices
Radios and televisions placed nearby may experience reception
interference. Operate this unit at a suitable distance from radios
and televisions.
Handling
To avoid breakage, do not apply excessive force to the switches
or controls.
Care
If the exterior becomes dirty, wipe it with a clean, dry cloth. Do
not use liquid cleaners such as benzene or thinner, or cleaning
compounds or ammable polishes.

Never set any container with liquid in it near this equipment. If liquid
gets into the equipment, it could cause a breakdown, re, or electrical

Installing batteries
Install the baeries as follows.
1. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the two screws indicated
in the illustration below.
2. Remove the baery compartment cover.
3. Install the baeries, making sure that they are oriented in the
correct position.

Colocación de las pilas
Coloque las pilas como se indica a continuación.
1. Utilice un destornillador Philips para retirar los dos tornillos
indicados en la ilustración siguiente.
2. Retire la tapa del compartimento de las pilas.
3.
Coloque las pilas y asegúrese de que están orientadas en la
posición correcta.
4.
Utilice los tornillos para volver a colocar la tapa del
compartimento de las pilas.
El botón FUNCTION parpadea cuando las pilas están casi
agotadas. Si ocurre esto, coloque pilas nuevas lo antes posible.
Desactive el SQ-1 antes de sustituir las pilas.
Las pilas agotadas deben extraerse inmediatamente del SQ-1.
Si no retira las pilas agotadas de su compartimento puede
provocar un fallo de funcionamiento (las pilas pueden tener
pérdidas). Retire también las pilas si no tiene previsto utilizar
el SQ-1 durante un periodo de tiempo prolongado.
No combine pilas parcialmente utilizadas con otras nuevas
y tampoco combine pilas de distintos tipos.

Batterien einlegen
Legen Sie die Baerien wie folgt ein.
1.
Lösen Sie mit einem Kreuzslitz-Sraubendreher die beiden
Srauben wie in der Abbildung unten gezeigt.
2. Entfernen Sie den Baeriefadeel.
3.
Legen Sie die Baerien ein und aten Sie dabei auf die
ritige Polung.
4. Bringen Sie den Baeriefadeel wieder an und srauben
Sie ihn mit den beiden Srauben fest.
Wenn die Baerien ersöp sind, blinkt die FUNCTION-
Taste. Legen Sie in diesem Fall umgehend neue Baerien ein.
Salten Sie den SQ-1 aus, bevor Sie die Baerien ersetzen.
Entfernen Sie entladene Baerien umgehend aus dem SQ-1.
Die Baerien könnten sonst auslaufen und Besädigungen
oder Fehlfunktionen verursaen. Entfernen Sie zudem
die Baerien, wenn Sie den SQ-1 über längere Zeit nit
verwenden möten.
Misen Sie keine gebrauten mit neuen Baerien und
verwenden Sie stets Baerien desselben Typs.

4. Use the screws to reaach the baery compartment cover.
The FUNCTION buon blinks when the baeries are nearly
empty. When this happens, install new baeries as soon as
possible.
Turn o the SQ-1 before replacing the baeries.
Depleted baeries should be immediately removed from the
SQ-1. Leaving depleted baeries in the baery compartment
may cause malfunctions (the baeries may leak). In addition,
remove the baeries if you do not expect to use the SQ-1 for
an extended period of time.
Do not mix partially used baeries with new ones, and do
not mix baeries of diering types.

Précautions
Emplacement

Alimentation
Lorsque vous n’utilisez pas l’appareil, n’oubliez pas de le mere
hors tension. Retirez les piles pour éviter toute fuite lorsque
l’appareil ne sera pas utilisé pendant de longues périodes de
temps.
Interférences avec d’autres appareils électriques
Les postes de radio et de télévision situés à proximité peuvent
par conséquent sourir d’interférences à la réception. Veuillez
dès lors faire fonctionner cet appareil à une distance raisonnable
de postes de radio et de télévision.
Maniement
Pour éviter de les endommager, manipulez les commandes et les
boutons de cet instrument avec soin.
Entretien
Lorsque l’instrument se salit, neoyez-le avec un chion propre
et sec. Ne vous servez pas d’agents de neoyage liquides tels
que du benzène ou du diluant, voire des produits inammables.
Conservez ce manuel
Après avoir lu ce manuel, veuillez le conserver soigneusement
pour toute référence ultérieure.
Evitez toute intrusion d’objets ou de liquide
Ne placez jamais de récipient contenant du liquide près de
l’instrument. Si le liquide se renverse ou coule, il risque de
provoquer des dommages, un court-circuit ou une électrocution.
Veillez à ne pas laisser tomber des objets métalliques dans le
boîtier (trombones, par ex.).

Mise en place de piles
Installez les piles de la façon décrite.
1.
Retirez les deux vis indiquées sur l’illustration ci-dessous avec
un tournevis cruciforme.
2. Retirez le couvercle du compartiment des piles.
3.
Meez les piles en place, en veillant à les orienter en respectant
les indications de polarité.
4.
Remeez le couvercle du compartiment des piles en place
avec les vis déposées.
Le bouton FUNCTION se met à clignoter quand les piles sont
presque plates. Dans ce cas, retirez les piles et remplacez-les
par des neuves sans tarder.
Meez le SQ-1 hors tension avant de remplacer les piles.
Extrayez toujours immédiatement les piles usées du SQ-1.
Ne laissez jamais des piles plates dans le compartiment car
elles pourraient fuir et endommager l’instrument. En outre,
retirez les piles du SQ-1 si vous ne comptez pas l’utiliser
pendant une période prolongée.
Ne mélangez jamais des piles neuves avec des piles usagées,
et n’utilisez des piles que du même type.
電池の入れ方
以下の手順で電池を入れます。
1. 図に示す2本のネジをプラス・ドライバーで外します。
2. 電池フタを外します。
3. 電池の極性に注意して電池を入れます。
4. 電池カバーをネジで取り付けます。
電池の寿命が近づくと、FUNCTIONボタンが点滅します。早
めに新しい電池と交換してください。
電池の交換は電源を切った状態で行ってください。
使えなくなった電池は、すぐに本機から取り出してください。そ
のままにしておくと、故障の原因（電池の液漏れなど）となりま
す。また、長期間ご使用にならない場合も、電池を外しておいて
ください。
新しい電池と1度使用した電池や、違う種類の電池を混ぜて
使用しないでください。
保証規定 （必ずお読みください）
本保証書は、保証期間中に本製品を保証するもので、付属
品類（ヘッドホンなど）は保証の対象になりません。保証期
間内に本製品が故障した場合は、保証規定によって無償修理
いたします。
1. 本保証書の有効期間はお買い上げ日より 1 か年です。
2. 次の修理等は保証期間内であっても有償となります。
・ 消耗部品 （電池、スピーカー、真空管、フェーダーなど）
の交換。
・ お取扱い方法が不適当のために生じた故障。
・ 天災（火災、浸水等）によって生じた故障。
・ 故障の原因が本製品以外の他の機器にある場合。
・ 不当な改造、調整、部品交換などにより生じた故障または
損傷。
・ 保証書にお買い上げ日、販売店名が未記入の場合、または
字句が書き替えられている場合。
・ 本保証書の提示がない場合。
尚、当社が修理した部分が再度故障した場合は、保証期間外
であっても、修理した日より 3 か月以内に限り無償修理いた
します。
3. 本保証書は日本国内においてのみ有効です。

These specify the value for each step of channel A and channel B.
Step buttons
These edit the parameter that’s specied by the MODE buon.
MODE/CLEAR button
This buon lets you edit the parameters of channel A and
channel B. The editable parameter changes each time you
press a buon. Use the step buons of each channel to edit
the seing.
The seings are reset if you hold down the FUNCTION buon
and press the MODE buon (GATE ON/OFF: all steps on,
ACTIVE STEP: all steps on, SLIDE: all steps o).
GATE ON/OFF
This function species whether each step’s gate output is on
or o. Steps that are o (buon unlit) do not output a signal
from the CV/GATE jacks during playback.
ACTIVE STEP
This feature species whether each step of the sequence is on
or o. Steps that are o (buon unlit) are disabled, and are
excluded from the sequence.
SLIDE
This feature allows you to specify how the value changes
between steps. If this is on (buon lit up), the pitch or value
changes smoothly from one step to the next. If the sequencer
mode is , the seings of each step of channel B will
be used.
STEP JUMP
If the sequencer is running, pressing a step buon will cause
the sequencer jump immediately to that step. If the sequencer
is stopped, pressing a step buon (the buon lit up) makes the
sequencer start running from that step.
SPEED knob
Controls the speed at which the sequencer runs
DUTY knob
Adjusts the duty cycle of the gate signal. Higher values make the
notes sound longer.
If the sequencer mode is or , the seing of this knob is ignored,
and the duty cycle is controlled by channel B.
/ button
Starts/stops the sequencer
FUNCTION button
By holding down this buon and pressing the STEP buons of each channel, you
can edit the CV output parameters of each channel. The buon is lit up while you
are editing these seings.
CV A RANGE, CV B RANGE
These parameters specify the voltage of the channel A or channel B CV output
jacks. Set this to either , , , or as appropriate for the device 1V 2V 5V 8V [Hz/V]
that’s connected.
Note: The voltage seing aects the range of pitches that are sounded. For the
appropriate voltage seing, refer to the manual of the connected device.
CV A BEHAVIOR, CV B BEHAVIOR
These parameters specify how the seing of each step’s knob will aect the output
when using channel A or channel B to control the pitch.
LINEAR: The seing of each step’s knob is output without any adjustment.
MINOR: The seing of each step’s knob is adjusted to a minor scale for output.
MAJOR: The seing of each step’s knob is adjusted to a major scale for output.
CHROMA: The seing of each step’s knob is adjusted to a chromatic scale for
output.

Global parameter settings
If you turn on the power while pressing the / buon, you can set the
following global parameters. When you’ve nished editing the seings,
press the buon. The seings will be saved and the SQ-1 will restart.
Auto power-o function
To enable the auto power-o function, make the / buon light up.
With the original factory seings, this feature is enabled.
To disable the auto power-o function, make the / buon unlit.
MIDI channel setting
The channel A and channel B step buons correspond to MIDI channels
1‒16. Press the buon of the corresponding channel to make it light up.
GATE output polarity of channel A and channel B
When the MODE buon lit is lit up + (positive polarity) is selected. When
the MODE buon is unlit (negative polarity) - polarity is selected. With
the factory seings enabled, + (positive polarity) is selected. Set this as
appropriate for the device that’s connected.
SYNC IN and SYNC OUT polarity
When the MODE buon is lit + polarity (rise) is selected. When the
MODE buon is unlit - polarity (fall) is selected. With the factory seings
enabled, + (rise) is selected. Set this as appropriate for the device that’s
connected.
Sequence step resolution
Use the SEQUENCER MODE selector to specify the resolution of the
steps.
: quarter notes, : eighth notes, : sixteenth notes
About the MIDI implementation chart
You can connect the SQ-1’s MIDI OUT connector to an external MIDI
device and control it. The MIDI messages that the SQ-1 can transmit
are listed in the MIDI implementation chart. You can download the
SQ-1’s MIDI implementation chart from the Korg website (hp://www.
korg.com/).
The SQ-1’s controls, connectors, and functions (power) button
This buon turns the power on. To turn the power o, press and hold the
buon for approximately one second.
Auto power-o function
The SQ-1 has an auto power-o function. When approximately four hours
have elapsed without the SQ-1 running, the power will turn o automatically.
You can disable the auto power-o function (see ”Global parameter seings”)
littleBits OUT jack
Connect this jack to a lileBits unit that you want to control.
OUT (MIDI OUT) jack
Use the included adapter cable and a MIDI cable to connect this jack to an
external MIDI unit that you want to control.
CV - A OUT - GATE, CV - B OUT - GATE jacks
Connect these jacks to an external analog unit that you want to control. The
CV jacks output signals that control pitch or other parameters , and the GATE
jacks output gate signals that control the length of the notes.
IN - SYNC - OUT jacks
Connect these jacks to an analog synthesizer such as the volca series or the
monotribe, so that the two units will operate in synchronization. The SYNC
OUT jack outputs a 5V pulse that’s 15 ms long at the beginning of each step.
If you connect the SYNC OUT jack of a volca series unit or the monotribe to
the SYNC IN jack of the SQ-1, the step clock of the SQ-1 is ignored, and steps
advance according to the pulses that are input. Use this if you want steps to
synchronize to the pulses that are output from a monotribe or other analog
sequencer, or from an audio output of your DAW.
(USB) jack
Connect this to your computer if you want to control a soware synthesizer
from the SQ-1. The USB connection is also used to update the SQ-1’s operating
system soware. If this is connected, the SQ-1 will be powered by USB bus
power.
SEQUENCER MODE Selector
Species the sequencer mode
: Channel A and channel B run alternately in units of one step; signals are output from the CV-A OUT-GATE and CV-B
OUT-GATE jacks. Use channel A and channel B to control pitch or other parameters.
: The steps run in the order of channel A → channel B; signals are output from the CV-A OUT-GATE and CV-B OUT-GATE
jacks. Use channel A and channel B to control pitch or other parameters.
: Channel A and channel B run in parallel, and reverse direction at the last step. Use channel A and channel B to control
pitch or other parameters. Channel A signals are output from the CV-A OUT-GATE jacks, and channel B signals are output
from the CV-B OUT-GATE jacks.
: Channel A and channel B run in parallel. Use channel A and channel B to control pitch or other parameters. Channel A
