Your Beacon Chronograph may be used to time events up to 12 hours in dura-
tion, in whole second increments.
Crown positions:
Position 1 - Normal position. Crown pushed against case. (Watch runs)
Position 2 - To set DATE: Rotate crown clockwise. (Watch continues to run)
NOTE: If the date is manually adjusted during the automatic date changing phase
(between 9:00 PM and 12:00 AM), set date to following day.
Position 3 - To set TIME: Rotate crown in either direction. (Watch stops)
To reset date/time following a battery change:
1. Pull crown out to position 2. (Watch continues to run.)
2. Turn crown clockwise until yesterday’s date appears in window.
3. Pull crown out to position 3. (Watch stops.)
4. Turn crown clockwise until correct date appears in window.
5. Continue to turn crown until hands indicate correct time, taking AM/PM into
account.
6. Push crown back into position 1, flush against case. (Watch will restart, now set
to correct date and time.)
Chronograph Function Overview
Use buttons A and B to operate the stopwatch timer. Pressing button A the
first time will start the chronograph. Pressing button A a second time will stop
the chronograph. Pressing button B will reset counter hands C, E and J to zero.
Hours counter J measures time up to 12 hours. Minutes counter E measures 30
minutes per rotation. Seconds counter C measures 60 seconds per rotation.
IMPORTANT: Crown must be in position 1, and all 3 chronograph hands must
be at 60 (zero) before stopwatch is started. Do not use chronograph while
crown is pulled to position 2 or 3. If necessary, press button B to reset chrono
hands to zero before you start timing. If hands do not move to zero position
after button B is pushed, follow instructions at end for synchronizing hands.
To operate Beacon Chronograph:
Simple chronograph functions:
To measure the duration of a single, non-stop event:
1. Press button A to start chronograph.
2. Press button A a second time to stop chronograph, and read the 3
chronograph hands to determine elapsed time, for example: 0 hours,
28 minutes, 14 seconds.
3. Press button B to reset chronograph to zero.
Accumulated time function:
To measure the combined time of a series of shorter events, for example the
actual playing time of a football game, where play is repeatedly interrupted:
1. Press button A to start the stopwatch when the event begins.
2. Press button A to stop the timing when the event is halted.
3. Press button A again when the event resumes.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until event is ended.
5. Press button B to reset to zero.
Split-time function:
To take intermediate time readings as a race progresses:
1. Press button A to start chronograph.
2. Press button B to momentarily stop chronograph.
3. Read off the intermediate time, for example: 1 hour, 53 minutes, 47 seconds.
4. Press button B to resume chronograph function. Hands will fly back, catching
up with ongoing event.
5. To read a second split time, press button B again. Repeat steps 2 through 4 to
take any additional split times.
6. Press button A to stop chronograph.
7. Take a reading of the final time, for example: 3 hours, 41 minutes, 15 seconds.
8. Press button B to reset chronograph to zero.
To synchronize Beacon Chronograph hands:
After a battery change or in the event of an error, you may need to manually
adjust the chronograph hands to align them correctly at their zero positions.
NOTE: Each press and release of button A will advance the activated hand by
one; press and hold button to advance hand rapidly.
1. Pull crown out to position 3.
2. Push and hold buttons A and B simultaneously for at least 2 seconds.
Chronograph seconds hand C will rotate 360 degrees indicating corrective
mode is activated.
3. Use push button A to adjust chronograph seconds hand C.
4. Push button B to switch to hour-counter adjustment .
5. Push button A to adjust hour-counter hand J.
6. Push button B to switch to minute-counter adjustment.
7. Push button A to adjust minute counter hand E.
8. Once hands are properly aligned, push crown back in to position 1.
NOTE: Chronograph hand synchronization can be stopped after any step by
returning crown to position 1.
