information necessary for safe and effective operation of this product.
This product has unique features and, even if you are familiar with similar
products, it is necessary to read this manual carefully to ensure you fully
understand the instruction. Ensure all users of the product read and fully
understand this manual.

WARNING: This appliance must be placed on a suitable stand when not in
use
WARNING: Do not hang the soldering iron vertically during use. This will
cause heat to rise, which could make the handle too hot to touch and in
extreme circumstances soften or melt the handle. Allowing the iron to hang
down will also place additional strain on the power cable mounting.
WARNING: Only use soldering iron stands suitable for the wattage of your
soldering iron. Do not use high wattage irons with light small soldering iron
stands.
IMPORTANT: Use soldering irons safely. Use promptly when the soldering
iron has reached the required temperature and switch off immediately after
use.
• Soldering appliances become extremely hot during use. Do not touch
any part of the appliance other than the handle
• Switch ‘OFF’ and allow the appliance to cool completely before
attemptingtochangeanyttings
• Do not leave this appliance unattended whilst hot
• Heat may be conducted to hidden areas or materials near to the work
area.Ensurethattherearenoammablematerialsinthevicinityofthe
work area
• Residual heat may cause waste material to ignite, even after the
appliance has been disconnected from the power supply
• Never use these appliances near any kind of fuel tank or gas cylinder
• Soldering with certain materials may result in toxic fumes. Always allow
adequateventilation.Donotuseinconnedspaces
• Some types of solder may contain high proportions of lead. Molten
lead emits toxic fumes, always wear good quality appropriate breathing
protection
• Lead fumes are especially toxic to children, pregnant women and people
with high blood pressure. People at high risk should not be allowed near to the work area
• Always dispose of waste material responsibly
Intended Use
Electric soldering iron for soldering of larger electronic components, wires
and electrical connections.
Unpacking Your Appliance
• Carefully unpack and inspect your new soldering iron. Familiarise
yourself with all its features and functions.
• Ensure that all parts of the appliance are present and in good condition.
If any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before
attempting to use this appliance.
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the power supply
before attaching or changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
• CheckthattheSolderingTip(1)issecurelyttedbeforeswitchingon.
The soldering tip should be pushed into the Heating Element (2) and
secured by tightening the Locking Screw (4)
Operation
Note: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing
protection, as well as suitable gloves, when working with this appliance.
• Do not allow the heating element or soldering tip to rest on any surface
that may be damaged by heat
• To operate, connect to mains power supply and allow to reach operating
temperature
• Hold the Soldering Tip (1) against the wire or component to be soldered.
Once hot, add solder to the joint then remove soldering iron

Maintenance
General inspection
• Regularlycheckthatallthexingscrewsaretight
• Inspect the supply cord of the appliance, prior to each use, for damage
or wear. Repairs should be carried out by an authorised Silverline
service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords used with this
appliance
Tip Replacement
WARNING: Always disconnect appliance from power supply and allow to
cool fully before attempting to adjust or replace any part.
• Slacken the Locking Screw (4) and withdraw the Soldering Tip (1)
• Push the replacement soldering tip into the Heating Element (2) and
retighten the Locking Screw
Cleaning
• Keep your appliance clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal
parts to wear quickly, and shorten the appliances’ service life. Clean the
body of your appliance with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use
clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes
• Clean the appliance casing with a soft damp cloth using a mild
detergent. Do not use alcohol, petrol or strong cleaning agents
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts
